High Jump
The high jump is a track and field event in which competitors must jump unaided over a horizontal bar placed at measured heights without dislodging it. In its modern, most-practiced format, a bar is placed between two standards with a crash mat for landing. Since ancient times, competitors have successively improved their technique until developing the universally preferred Fosbury Flop, in which athletes run towards the bar and leap head first with their back to the bar. The discipline is, alongside the pole vault, one of two vertical clearance events in the Athletics at the Summer Olympics, Olympic athletics program. It is contested at the World Championships in Athletics and the World Athletics Indoor Championships, and is a common occurrence at track and field meets. Oana Musunoiu-Pantelimon
Oana Manuela Pantelimon, née Musunoiu (born 27 September 1972 in Tecuci) is a Romanian high jumper. At the 2000 Olympic Games Pantelimon ended in third place, tied with Kajsa Bergqvist of Sweden. As the two athletes had an identical jumping record, with perfect attempts up to 1.99 where both had one foul, they shared the bronze medal.Note: ThOfficial Report of the XXVII Olympiad(page 447 of 548) erroneously lists her place as fourth. Pantelimon, who had no international honors before this competition, even jumped a personal best of 1.99 metres, improving her old mark by 5 centimetres. Pantelimon did not win any further titles after the 2000 Olympics. Erin Marie Shean (née Aldrich) (born December 27, 1977, in Dallas, Texas) is an American high jumper and volleyball player. She competed at the 2000 Olympic Games, in high jump. Miki Imai (; born 30 May 1975) is a Japanese former track and field athlete who competed in the high jump. Her personal best of , set in 2001, is the Japanese record for the event. She is also co-holder of the indoor national record of with Megumi Sato. She represented Japan at the 2000 Sydney Olympics and was a three-time participant at the World Championships in Athletics (1999, 2001 and 2003). Juana Rosario Arrendel
Juana Rosario Arrendel (born 16 June 1978) is a female high jumper from the Dominican Republic. Arrendel originally won the 1999 Pan American Games in Winnipeg, but lost the gold medal after testing positive for stanozolol. In 2006, she became the sixth woman to win three Central American and Caribbean Games titles in a row. The other are Miguelina Cobián, Carmen Romero, Bárbara Hechevarría, María Caridad Colón and Letitia Vriesde.
