2001 UCLA Bruins Softball Team
The 2001 UCLA Bruins softball team represented the University of California, Los Angeles in the 2001 NCAA Division I softball season. The Bruins were coached by Sue Enquist, in her thirteenth season as head coach. The Bruins played their home games at Easton Stadium and finished with a record of 62–6. They competed in the Pacific-10 Conference, where they finished second with a 16–5 record. The Bruins were invited to the 2001 NCAA Division I softball tournament, where they swept the Regional and then completed a run to the title game of the Women's College World Series where they fell to champion Arizona. Sue Enquist
Susan Enquist (born August 24, 1957) is a former softball player and coach. She played softball at UCLA under Sharron Backus from 1975 to 1978. She helped lead UCLA to its first national softball championship in the 1978 Women's College World Series and became UCLA's first All-American softball player. Playing career Her career batting average of .401 was the UCLA team record for 24 years. She also played for the Raybestos Brakettes and helped lead the team to Amateur Softball Association national championships in 1976, 1977, 1978, and 1980. Coaching career After receiving a bachelor's degree in kinesiology in 1980, Enquist joined the coaching staff of the UCLA softball team. She was an assistant coach under Sharron Backus from 1980 to 1988. In 1989, she was appointed as the co-head coach with Backus, a position she held for eight years from 1989 to 1996. Kelly Inouye-Perez
Kelly Keiko Inouye-Perez (born January 2, 1970) Playing career As a player, she was a catcher for UCLA and helped her team to three National Championships and a finish as National Runner-Up in her four playing seasons. She missed the 1991 season due to shoulder surgery. She is a member of the 2022 class of the UCLA Athletics Hall of Fame. Bobcat Softball Stadium
The Texas State Bobcats are the sports teams that represent Texas State University. Currently, they compete in the Sun Belt Conference in NCAA Division I (Football Bowl Subdivision for football). The Bobcat has been the mascot of Texas State University since 1921, when the university adopted the name from the recommendation of a committee formed to raise school spirit. Though considerably smaller than mountain lions, bobcats are known for their stubborn fierceness and great courage.
