The 24 Hours of Spa is an endurance racing event for cars held annually since 1924 at the Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Stavelot, Belgium. It is currently sponsored by TotalEnergies. History The Spa 24 Hours was conceived by Jules de Their and Henri Langlois Van Ophem just one year after the inaugural 24 Hours of Le Mans was run. It debuted in 1924 over a circuit on public roads between the towns of Francorchamps, Malmedy and Stavelot, under the auspices of the Royal Automobile Club of Belgium (RACB). The present circuit was inaugurated in 1979 with only slight variations since then. The Spa 24 Hours was part of the European Touring Car Championship from 1966 to 1973, again in 1976 and from 1982 to 1988 (with the exception of 1987 when it was part of the inaugural World Touring Car Championship). Renault Clio RS
The Clio Renault Sport (or Clio RS for short) is a hot hatch produced since 1998 by Renault Sport, the high-performance division of French automaker Renault. It is based on the Clio supermini. The engine remained the same since the first Clio RS, a 2.0-litre straight-4 petrol engine, with an FF layout and a three-door hatchback body style. Jean "Jeannot" Ragnotti (born 29 August 1945 in Pernes-les-Fontaines, Vaucluse), is a French former rally driver for Renault in the World Rally Championship. Ranking among his achievements are his conquering of the Monte Carlo Rally in 1981, what was the first turbo victory in the history of the WRC, alongside compatriot Jean-Marc Andrié against the might of the ultimate four-wheel-drive upstart, the Audi Quattro. Pierre-Yves Corthals (born 23 October 1975 in Liège) is a Belgian auto racing driver. Career After competing in karting, Corthals began racing in the Belgian Renault Clio Cup in 1994, which he went on to win for three consecutive years between 1995 and 1997, and won it again in 2000 and 2004. He won the International Clio Cup in 2001, ahead of Alessandro Balzan and Jeroen Bleekemolen. In 2001 he competed in two rounds of the European Touring Car Championship, once for BMW Team RBM at Donington Park, and once for Carly Motorsport at Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, finishing the first race in sixth place. Andrea Chiesa (born 6 May 1964) is a former Formula One driver from Switzerland. He participated in 10 Grands Prix, debuting on 1 March 1992. Career Chiesa began racing in 1980 with karts, and continued to cars in 1985, competing in Italian Formula 3 and International Formula 3000, Formula 3000. It was introduced at the 1997 Frankfurt Motor Show as the replacement for the Alfa Romeo 155.
