2000 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Tournament
The 2000 NCAA Division II men's basketball tournament was the 44th annual single-elimination tournament to determine the national champion of men's NCAA Division II college basketball in the United States. Officially culminating the 1999–2000 NCAA Division II men's basketball season, the tournament featured forty-eight teams from around the country. The Elite Eight, national semifinals, and championship were again played at the Commonwealth Convention Center in Louisville, Kentucky. In a rematch of the previous year's final, Metro State (33–4) defeated defending champions Kentucky Wesleyan, 97–79, to win their first Division II national championship. Commonwealth Convention Center
The Kentucky International Convention Center (KICC), formerly called the Commonwealth Convention Center, is a large multi-use facility in Louisville, Kentucky, United States. The KICC, along with the Kentucky Exposition Center, hosts conventions for the Louisville area. It was built on the site of the Tyler Block and opened in 1977. The facility underwent a major renovation from 2016 to 2018, seeking more space and a more inviting presence. While the convention center does not have a permanent arena, it has hosted various sporting events, including the 2002 Ohio Valley Conference men's basketball tournament and the NCAA Division II men's basketball tournament from 1995 to 2000. The Northwest Missouri State Bearcats are the athletic teams for Northwest Missouri State University, located in Maryville, Missouri. The Bearcats play in the NCAA Division II. Northwest is a founding member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association in 1912 and has remained in the conference ever since. From their founding until 1937, they competed in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU). The Florida Southern Moccasins (also shortened to Florida Southern Mocs) are the athletic teams that represent Florida Southern College, located in Lakeland, Florida, in NCAA Division II intercollegiate sports.
