2000 AFC Asian Cup
The 2000 AFC Asian Cup was the 12th edition of the men's AFC Asian Cup, a quadrennial international football tournament organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The finals were held in Lebanon between 12 and 29 October 2000. Japan defeated defending champion Saudi Arabia in the final match in Beirut. Qualification 42 teams participated in a preliminary tournament. It was divided into 10 groups and the first-placed team of each group thus qualified. A total of 84 games were held, starting with the Oman versus Kyrgyzstan game on 3 August 1999. Lee Dong-Gook
Lee Dong-gook (; ; born 29 April 1979) is a South Korean former professional Association football, footballer who played as a striker (association football), striker. He is a record scorer in the K League 1, and had brief spells in Europe with SV Werder Bremen, Werder Bremen and Middlesbrough F.C., Middlesbrough. He also played for the South Korea national football team at two FIFA World Cups and three AFC Asian Cups. Camille Chamoun Sports City Stadium (CCSC) () is a multi-purpose stadium with a capacity of 49,500 seats, located in the Bir Hassan area of Beirut, Lebanon. The stadium, equipped with sport of athletics, athletics facilities, is the largest in the country, and is mostly used for football (soccer), football matches. The 1964 AFC Asian Cup was the 3rd edition of the men's AFC Asian Cup, a quadrennial international football tournament organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The finals were held in Israel from 26 May to 3 June 1964. The tournament used a round-robin system which had to be increased in size to five teams, with the winners from the Western, Central 1 and 2 and Eastern zones, as well as the host nation (Israel) competing for the title. Eleven of the 17 nations withdrew from qualification resulting in only one zone (a combined Central 1 and 2) playing any qualifying matches. The two remaining teams from the Western and Eastern zones respectively qualified uncontested.
