1999 President's Cup – Singles
The 1999 President's Cup was a men's tennis tournament played on Hard courts in Tashkent, Uzbekistan that was part of the International Series of the 1999 ATP Tour. It was the third edition of the tournament and was held from 13 – 18 September. Tim Henman was the defending champion, but did not compete this year. Nicolas Kiefer won the title by defeating qualifier George Bastl 6–4, 6–2 in the final. Roger Federer entered ATP Top 100 for the first time after this tournament. Nicolas Kiefer
Nicolas Kiefer (; born 5 July 1977) is a German former professional tennis player. He reached the semifinals of the 2006 Australian Open and won a silver medal in men's doubles with partner Rainer Schüttler at the 2004 Athens Olympics. Kiefer's career-high singles ranking was world No. 4, achieved in January 2000. Tennis career 1995–2005 Kiefer was taken notice of as an outstanding junior. He won the Junior Australian Open, the US Open, and was a finalist and semifinalist at Wimbledon and the French Open finishing as the No. 2 junior behind Mariano Zabaleta when he was 18 in 1995. Marat Safin
Marat Mubinovich Safin ( rus, Мара́т Муби́нович Са́фин, , mɐˈrat ˈsafʲɪn, Ru-Marat-Safin.ogg; ; born 27 January 1980) is a Russian former professional tennis player and former politician. Cecil Valdeavilla Mamiit (born June 27, 1976) is a former tennis player from the United States who went on to represent the Philippines. He began his professional career in 1996 and reached his highest individual ranking in the ATP Tour on October 11, 1999 as World No. 72. John Van Lottum
John van Lottum (born 10 April 1976) is a former tennis player from the Netherlands, who played professionally from 1994 to 2007. During his career, he won 5 Challenger titles in singles; notably defeated Lleyton Hewitt and Todd Martin; and reached the 4th round of Wimbledon in 1998. Lorenzo Manta
Lorenzo Manta (born 16 September 1974 in Winterthur) is a former tennis player from Switzerland, who turned professional in 1992. The right-hander reached his highest ATP singles ranking of World No. 103 in June 2000. His best achievement in the grand slam tournaments was reaching the fourth round at Wimbledon in 1999. Ivo Heuberger (born 19 February 1976) is a retired tennis player who represented Switzerland at the Davis Cup. Early life Ivo Heuberger was born in the small town of Altstätten, Switzerland on 19 February 1976. Ivan Ljubičić (; born 19 March 1979) is a Croatian former professional tennis player, coach and Tennis TV commentator. He reached a career-high Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) world No. 3 singles ranking on 1 May 2006. Peter Wessels
Peter Wessels (; born 7 May 1978) is a former tour professional male tennis player and a coach from the Netherlands. He achieved his career-high singles ranking of world No. 72 in February 2005.
