1998 3. Divisjon
The 1998 season of the ''3. divisjon'', the fourth highest association football league for men in Norway. Between 20 and 22 games (depending on group size) were played in 19 groups, with 3 points given for wins and 1 for draws. All group winners were promoted to the 2. divisjon, as well as some of the best runners-up. Association Football
Association football, more commonly known as football or soccer, is a team sport played between two teams of 11 players who primarily use their feet to propel the ball around a rectangular field called a pitch. The objective of the game is to score more goals than the opposition by moving the ball beyond the goal line into a rectangular framed goal defended by the opposing side. Traditionally, the game has been played over two 45 minute halves, for a total match time of 90 minutes. With an estimated 250 million players active in over 200 countries, it is considered the world's most popular sport. Vardal IF
Vardal is a former municipality in the old Oppland county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1964. The area is now divided between Gjøvik Municipality and Vestre Toten Municipality in the traditional district of Vestoppland. The administrative centre was the village of Vardal. Norwegian reserve football teams compete at all levels of league football within the Norwegian football league system apart from the top two divisions, Eliteserien and 1. divisjon. The highest league these teams can currently enter is the 2. divisjon, set at the third tier of the league system. The reserve teams are attached to their first teams with a "2" suffix and must play in a lower league than the first team. Furthermore, if a club's first team plays in the 1. divisjon, the reserves team cannot play in the 2. divisjon either. If a reserve team ends up at a promotion spot when it is not allowed to be promoted, the promotion is awarded to best following team in the league standings which is allowed to be promoted. Also, a reserve team is forcefully relegated, regardless of the final league position, if it is no longer qualified for playing at that level - i.e. if the first team is relegated to a league level where the reserve team's level is no longer allowed. Rygge IL
Rygge was a municipality in Østfold county, Norway. It was merged into Moss municipality on January 1, 2020. The administrative centre of the municipality is the village of Rygge. Rygge was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The emblem of Rygge is the Pasque flower. Rygge is connected to Oslo by double-tracked railway, and four-lane motorway. Rygge was served by Moss Airport, which has not been operational since 2016. Grue Idrettslag is a Norwegian sports club from Grue, founded in 1906. It has sections for association football, team handball, athletics, orienteering, sport shooting and Nordic skiing. Football The men's football team currently play in the 5. divisjon, the sixth tier of Norwegian football. The team played in the 3. divisjon from 2014, the fourth tier of Norwegian football. The team last played on this tier in 2007. Before that long Third Division stint, Grue played in the 2. divisjon until 1994. In 1976 and 1977 the team even played on the second tier. Trøgstad/Båstad Fotballklubb is a Norwegian association football club from Trøgstad, Østfold. The men's football team currently plays in the Third Division, the fourth tier of Norwegian football. Lunner IL
Lunner Idrettslag is a Norwegian sports club from Lunner, Oppland. It currently only has a section for team handball. The club is best known for its women's handball team. It played in the highest Norwegian league for many years, and became runners-up in the Norwegian Cup in 1989. Kjersti Grini became league top goalscorer and player of the year in 1990, and Cathrine Svendsen became player of the year in 1991. Eli Fallingen also played internationally for Norway. In addition, Jøran Lien Grymyr was a men's international in 1987. The women's team now plays in the Second Division, the third tier. The men's football team played in the Third Division for some years, last in 2002. After the season the team entered a cooperation with neighbors Grindvoll IL, who played one tier higher. Gjelleråsen Idrettsforening is a Norwegian sports club from Gjelleråsen in Nittedal, founded 6 March 1935. It has sections for association football, floorball, swimming, gymnastics and skiing. Their club colours are green and white. The women's football team had a stint in the Toppserien in 1996, but was relegated that season. Its top goalscorer was Marianne Pettersen, who was awarded the league ''Player of the Year'' award and won an Olympic bronze medal in 1996, but left the team upon relegation. Røa IL is a Norwegian sports club from Røa in the borough of Vestre Aker, Oslo. It was founded on 11 November 1900, and has sections for football, gymnastics, bandy, and cross-country skiing. Football, bandy, and Nordic skiing have been dominant in Røa. In bandy, the team has twice made it to the finals in the Norwegian cup, losing both to arch-rivals Stabæk. In skiing, the two foremost names are Olav Hansson, world champion team large hill ski jumping in the 1982 World Ski Championships and Martin Johnsrud Sundby, a Norwegian national team cross-country skier who won the FIS Cross-Country World Cup and the Tour de Ski in 2013–14. Fotballklubben Toten is a Norwegian association football club located in Østre Toten, Innlandet. The club was founded 17 December 1995 as a cooperation club between several clus from Østre Toten. The team currently plays in 3. divisjon, the fourth tier of the Norwegian football league system. History FK Toten was founded 17 December 1995 as a cooperation club between Kapp IF, Lena IF og Skreia IL. Kapp IF later withdrew from the club. 7 December 2015 was a new cooperation project launched which Lena IF, Skreia IL, Kapp IF and Lensbygda SK committed to. The same agreement concluded with Kolbu IL, IL Kolbukameratene and Kolbu/KK Fotball joined as supporting clubs.
