TSV Saint Othmar
TSV St. Otmar St. Gallen is a Swiss handball team located in St. Gallen. Their home matches are played at the Kreuzbleiche-Halle. They compete in Swiss Handball League. History The team was founded in 1924 as a Catholic youth team, and was named after Saint Othmar, a catholic monk from the 8th century. The team started playing indoor handball in 1950 In 1951 they were promoted to the 1. for the first time, and in 1957 they were promoted to the Nationalliga 1, the top league. In 1961 they won their first Swiss championship in field handball. In 1971 they won their first national championship in indoor handball. In 1982 they surprisingly reached the final of the European Cup, where they lost the final to Hungarian Honvéd Budapest 49-34 on aggregate. Rokometni klub Olimpija (), commonly referred to as RK Olimpija or simply Olimpija, is a women's handball club from Ljubljana, Slovenia. The club was established in 1949 as RK Enotnost. It competes in the 1. B SRL, the second tier of Slovenian women's handball. History 1949–1965 In 1949, Mitja Vidic organized a handball tournament between high schools in Ljubljana and invited the best players of the tournament to join the handball section of the sports club Enotnost. After the club disbanded in 1950, its handball section became an independent handball club, which changed its name to Svoboda in 1953. As the Slovenian champions in 1950, Enotnost participated in the finals of the Yugoslavian handball tournament, where they finished in the second place. Vasas SC (women's Handball)
Vasas SC is a Hungarian women's handball team. It is part of the Budapest-based multi-sports club Vasas SC. One of the most successful teams in the country, they have won the Hungarian championship a record 15 times and in 1982 they were also crowned as the European Champions Cup winners. History ''Hazena'', the early form of the modern handball, had been played across Europe for years, when, in 1926, based on the players who were fired by MTE for political reasons, ''Vas- és Fémmunkások Sport Clubja'' was founded. Until 1928 there was not an organized national championship and the hazena team participated only in several invitational tournaments. Due to financial reasons the club suspended its operations in 1931. After a financial consolidation the handball department of Vasas was reborn and entered the championship in 1938.
