1997–98 All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship
The 1997–98 All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship was the 28th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1970–71 All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship, 1970-71. The championship began on 5 October 1997 and ended on 17 March 1998. Crossmaglen Rangers GAC, Crossmaglen Rangers entered the championship as the 1996–97 All-Ireland Senior Club Football Championship, defending champions, however, they were beaten by Errigal Ciarán GAC, Errigal Ciarán in the Ulster Senior Club Football Championship, Ulster Club Championship. On 17 March 1998, Corofin GAA (Galway), Corofin won the championship following a 0-15 to 0-10 defeat of Erins Isle GAA, Erin's Isle in the All-Ireland final at Croke Park. Tuam Stadium
St Jarlath's Park (''Páirc Iarflaith Naofa'', commonly known as Tuam Stadium) is a GAA stadium in Tuam, County Galway, Ireland. It is one of the principal stadiums of Galway GAA's football teams. The ground once had a capacity of around 26,000. This has progressively been reduced for safety reasons and has most recently been reduced to 6,700. The official opening of the stadium took place on 21 May 1950. It was blessed and officially opened by the Archbishop of Tuam, Rev. Dr Walsh. Naomh Éanna GAA ('Saint Enda’s') is a hurling, Gaelic football and camogie club based in Gorey, County Wexford, Ireland. History The Senior hurling and Senior Football club was founded in 1970 by a group of Christian Brothers and takes its name from Scoil Éanna, the school founded by Patrick Pearse. The camogie team was revived in 2002. Naomh Éanna won the Wexford IHC in 2015, advanced to the 2015–16 All-Ireland Intermediate Club Hurling Championship where they lost to Kiltale (Meath). Kilanerin–Ballyfad GAA
Kilanerin–Ballyfad GAA, often called simply Kilanerin, is a Gaelic football, hurling and ladies' Gaelic football club based in Kilanerin (Killinierin), County Wexford, Ireland. History There were formerly three clubs in the parish: Kilanerin, Ballyfad and Pallas Parnells. In 1953 they amalgamated with Tara Rocks to form Kilanerin–Ballyfad. The mountain on the club crest is nearby Annagh Hill. Kilanerin took their first Wexford Senior Football Championship in 1974. Their grounds in the Borleagh townland were acquired after that, and were further developed in 1998. Kilanerin won six county football titles in the years 1993–2008. Parnell Park is a GAA stadium in Donnycarney, Dublin, Ireland with a capacity of 7,300. Nowlan Park (; ), known for sponsorship reasons as UPMC Nowlan Park, is the principal Gaelic Athletic Association stadium in Kilkenny, Ireland. Named after James Nowlan, the longest serving President of the GAA, the stadium hosts major hurling matches and is home to the Kilkenny hurling team. It opened in 1927, replacing St. James Park. Moate GAA
Moate (; ) is a town in County Westmeath, Ireland. As of the 2022 census, it had a population of 3,013. The town's Irish name, ''An Móta'', is derived from the term motte-and-bailey, as the Normans built an example of this type of fortification here. The earthwork is still visible behind the buildings on the main street. The town later became an important marketplace and Quaker village. It made the town more wealthy than equivalent towns in Leinster. There are several extant examples of Quaker houses on the main street, which itself is typical of an Irish marketplace. Location Moate is on the Cloghatanny River, also known as the Moate Stream, which is a tributary of the River Brosna. The confluence between the Cloghatanny and Brosna is to the southeast of Moate. The club takes its name from Dicksboro townland, located next to Kilkenny Airport. The current ground is Palmerstown, to the west of the city, to which the club moved in June 1990. Markievicz Park () is the principal GAA stadium in County Sligo, Ireland, home to the Sligo Gaelic football and hurling teams. Built in 1955 in Sligo town (due mostly to Seán Forde who single-handedly gathered the funds necessary to build the stadium), it is named after Constance Markievicz, one of the participants of the 1916 Easter Rising, the first woman elected to Dáil Éireann and the first female elected to the British parliament, although she refused to take up her seat there.
