1997 Wimbledon Championships – Women's Doubles
Martina Hingis and Helena Suková were the defending champions but decided not to play together. Hingis teamed up with Arantxa Sánchez Vicario and lost in quarterfinals to Nicole Arendt and Manon Bollegraf, and Suková teamed with Larisa Neiland and lost in semifinals against the same pair. Gigi Fernández and Natasha Zvereva defeated Arendt and Bollegraf in the final, 7–6(7–4), 6–4 to win the ladies' doubles tennis title at the 1997 Wimbledon Championships. It was the 4th Wimbledon title, 17th Grand Slam and 69th overall title for Fernández and the 5th Wimbledon title, 18th Grand Slam and 67th overall title for Zvereva, in their respective doubles careers. Gigi Fernández
Beatriz "Gigi" Fernández (born February 22, 1964) is a Puerto Rican former professional tennis player. Fernández won 17 Grand Slam (tennis)#Tournaments, major doubles titles and two Olympic gold medals representing the United States, and reached the List of WTA number 1 ranked doubles tennis players, world No. 1 ranking in doubles. She reached a career-high singles ranking of world No. 17 in 1991. Since retiring from the professional tour in 1997 at the age of 33, Fernández has been a tennis coach and entrepreneur. Lori McNeil
Lori McNeil (born December 18, 1963) is an American tennis coach and former top 10 player. McNeil was a singles semifinalist at the US Open (tennis), US Open in 1987 and The Championships, Wimbledon, Wimbledon in 1994, a women's doubles finalist at the Australian Open in 1987 with Zina Garrison and French Open mixed-doubles winner in 1988 with Jorge Lozano. Kristie Boogert (born 16 December 1973) is a Dutch former professional female tennis player. She retired in 2003 due to chronic elbow pain. On 5 February 1996, she reached her career-high singles ranking of world No. 29. She has not won any singles titles, but did win three titles in doubles. Kimberly Po (born October 20, 1971) is a former professional tennis player from the United States. In her career, she won the mixed doubles title at Wimbledon in 2000, partnering Donald Johnson. Rita Grande (born 23 March 1975) is a former tennis player from Italy. During her career, Grande won three singles titles and five doubles titles on the WTA Tour. She also won one singles title and three doubles titles on the ITF Women's Circuit. On 5 November 2001, she reached her best singles ranking of world No. 24. Alexandra Fusai (born 22 November 1973) is a former professional tennis player from France. Fusai was born in Saint-Cloud, Hauts-de-Seine. Starting from September 1989 when she turned professional, Fusai played four tournaments (all of them part of the ITF Women's Circuit) on the international tennis circuit in 1989. Sabine Appelmans (born 22 April 1972) is a former professional tennis player from Belgium. She was Belgium's Fed Cup Captain (sports), captain from 2007 until 2011.
