1995 Copa Del Rey De Baloncesto
The 1995 Copa del Rey was the 59th edition of the Spanish basketball Cup. It was organized by the ACB and was played in Granada in the Palacio de Deportes between March 3 and 5, 1995. Taugrés Baskonia won its first title after defeating Amway Zaragoza in the final game. Competition format The top four teams in the 1993–94 ACB season (FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, Joventut Badalona and Estudiantes) joined directly the Final Eight stage, which would be played during the 1994–95 ACB season. The Copa del Rey de Baloncesto ( English: ''Basketball King's Cup'') is an annual cup competition for Spanish basketball teams organized by Spain's top professional league, the Liga ACB. History Originally known as the ''Copa de España de Baloncesto'', was first played in 1933 and contested in its first editions only by teams from the provinces of Madrid and Barcelona. It was the first nationwide basketball competition played in Spain. During the Francoism, it was referred as the ''Copa del Generalísimo de Baloncesto'', before becoming the ''Copa del Rey de Baloncesto'' in 1977. Kenneth Darnell Bannister (born April 1, 1960) is a retired American professional basketball player, from Baltimore, Maryland. At 6' 9" tall he was a power forward- center. College career Bannister played college basketball at Trinidad State Junior College, Indiana State University, and Saint Augustine's College. Professional career Bannister was selected by the New York Knicks, in the 7th round (156th overall), of the 1984 NBA draft. Bannister played in 5 NBA seasons. Pablo Laso Biurrun (born 13 October 1967) is a Spanish professional basketball coach and former player who is the current head coach for Saski Baskonia of the Spanish Liga ACB and the EuroLeague. Kenneth Anthony Green (born October 13, 1967) is a retired American professional basketball player. At a height of , he played at the power forward and center positions College career Green played collegiate basketball at the University of Rhode Island, between 1986 and 1990. He is the school's all-time leader in blocks, and on five different occasions, he blocked eight shots in a single game.
