The 1994–95 season was Sheffield Wednesday F.C.'s 128th season. They competed in the twenty-two team Premiership, the top tier of English football, finishing thirteenth. Season summary Sheffield Wednesday were among the pre-season favourites for a UEFA Cup places, having finished seventh in the first two Premiership seasons, third in the last First Division season in 1992 and winning the League Cup in 1991, with many fine players still on the club's payroll. But they were still without striker David Hirst for much of the season due to injury, and this played at least some part in the Owls enduring their worst league form since relegation in 1990. Right up till early May, the Owls were in real danger of relegation and this was enough for the club's board, who wielded the axe on manager Trevor Francis after four years in charge. 1990–91 Football League Cup
The 1990–91 Football League Cup (known as the Rumbelows Cup for sponsorship reasons) was the 31st season of the Football League Cup, a knockout competition for England's top 92 association football clubs. The competition began on 27 August 1990, and ended with the final on 21 April 1991 at the Old Wembley Stadium. The cup was won by Sheffield Wednesday, who beat Manchester United 1–0 in the final. A single goal from John Sheridan gave Wednesday the title. Gordon Watson (footballer, Born 1971)
Gordon Watson (born 20 March 1971) is an English former professional footballer, scout and sports co-commentator. As a player, he was a forward who notably played in the Premier League for Sheffield Wednesday and Southampton, as well as in the Football League for Charlton Athletic, Bradford City, AFC Bournemouth and Hartlepool United, he made over 200 appearances throughout his career and was capped twice at England U21 level, scoring once. Graham Hyde
Graham Hyde (born 10 November 1970) is an English football manager and former professional player. As a player, he was a midfielder from 1988 to 2008. He spent seven top-flight seasons with Sheffield Wednesday (six in the Premier League) and played in the Football League for Birmingham City, Chesterfield, Peterborough United and Bristol Rovers. He then moved into non-league football with Hereford United, Worcester City, Hednesford Town, Halesowen Town and Fleet Town. In 2011, he became manager of Redditch United but departed at the end of the 2011–12 season. He later became the assistant manager of Boston United where he had a spell as caretaker manager before a period in charge of AFC Telford United in 2013. John Sheridan (footballer)
John Joseph Sheridan (born 1 October 1964) is an Irish former football player and manager. A midfielder, he began his playing career with Manchester City and then moved to Leeds United, where he scored 47 league goals in 230 appearances. He played for Nottingham Forest briefly, under the management of Brian Clough, and then joined Sheffield Wednesday, for whom he scored the winning goal in the 1991 Football League Cup Final at Wembley Stadium. Near the end of his time with the club, he played for Birmingham City and Bolton Wanderers on loan before joining the latter permanently. Sheridan made 199 league appearances for Wednesday and scored 25 goals. He won the First Division title with Bolton in 1997. Sheridan then played for Doncaster Rovers after leaving Bolton and then joined Oldham Athletic, where he spent the last six years of his playing career, scoring 14 league goals in 144 appearances. Daniel "Dan" Vasile Petrescu (; born 22 December 1967) is a Romanian football manager and former player who is currently in charge of Liga I club CFR Cluj. As a player, Petrescu was deployed as a full-back or a winger and began his career at Steaua București, with which he played in the 1989 European Cup final. Abroad, he represented Serie A clubs Foggia and Genoa, before moving to the Premier League where he played for Sheffield Wednesday, Chelsea, Bradford City, and Southampton, respectively. Colin Calderwood
Colin Calderwood (born 20 January 1965) is a Scottish professional football manager and former player. As a player, he was a centre-back who played in the Premier League for Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa and in the Football League for Mansfield Town, Swindon Town, Nottingham Forest and Notts County. He was capped 36 times for Scotland and was part of their Euro 96 and World Cup 98 squads. Following retirement, he became manager of Northampton Town in 2003, guiding the club to promotion in 2006.
