1991–92 European Cup Second Round
The 1991–92 European Cup second round was the second stage of the 1991–92 European Cup competition, and featured the 16 teams that advanced from the first round. It began on 23 October with the first legs and ended on 6 November 1991 with the second legs. The eight winners advanced to the group stage. Times are CET (UTC+1), as listed by UEFA. Teams The 16 winners of the first round advanced to the second round. Notes Format Each tie was played over two legs, with each team playing one leg at home. The team that scored more goals on aggregate over the two legs advanced to the next round. If the aggregate score was level, the away goals rule was applied, i.e. the team that scored more goals away from home over the two legs advanced. If away goals were also equal, then extra time was played. 1991–92 European Cup
The 1991–92 European Cup was the 37th season of the European Cup football club tournament. It was the first European Cup to have a group stage, from which the winning clubs progressed to the final. 1991–92 was the tournament's last edition before it was re-branded as the UEFA Champions League. The group stage involved the eight winning clubs from round 2. The clubs were split into two groups of four, playing each other home and away, and the winning club from each group met in the 1992 European Cup Final. The competition was won for the first time by Barcelona after extra time in the final against Sampdoria, the first victory in the tournament by a team from Spain since 1966. Two-legged Tie
In sports (especially association football), a two-legged tie is a contest between two teams which comprises two matches or "legs", with each team as the home team in one leg. The winning team is usually determined by aggregate score, the sum of the scores of the two legs, for example, if the scores of the two legs are: *First leg: Team-A 1-0 Team-B *Second leg: Team-B 3-3 Team-A Then the aggregate score will be Team-A 4–3 Team-B, meaning team A wins the tie. José Mari Bakero
José María Bakero Escudero (born 11 February 1963) is a Spanish former professional footballer, currently a manager. Having played mainly for Real Sociedad and Barcelona, he began his career as a forward (not being a prolific scorer) but was converted into an attacking midfielder, possessing passing and scoring ability (with both his right foot and his head, the second despite his short stature) and great leadership skills. Bjarne Goldbæk
Bjarne Goldbæk (; born 6 October 1968) is a Danish former professional footballer and current sports pundit for Eurosport. An attacking midfielder, he played for a number of foreign clubs, including Chelsea and Fulham in England and several clubs in Germany.
