1990 European Championships In Athletics
The 15th European Athletics Championships were held from 26 August to 2 September 1990 in Split, Croatia, SFR Yugoslavia. The host stadium was Stadion Poljud. It was the last participation of East Germany (which was already scheduled to be merged with the Federal Republic), the Soviet Union, Czechoslovakia, and SFR Yugoslavia. Are Nakkim (born 13 February 1964) is a retired Norwegian long-distance runner who specialized in the 10,000 metres. He represented Moss IL during his active career. Are Nakkim attended Boston University, where he ran cross country and track. He won a silver medal in 10,000 m at the 1990 European Championships. He also competed in 3000 metres steeplechase at the 1986 European Championships as well as the World Cross Country Championships in 1989, 1990, 1991 and 1992 without any success. Sławomir Majusiak
Sławomir Majusiak (30 May 1964 – 5 December 2021) was a Polish long-distance runner who competed mainly in track running. His greatest achievement was a 5000 metres bronze medal at the 1990 European Athletics Championships. He also represented Poland at the 1989 IAAF World Cross Country Championships and 1991 World Championships in Athletics. Majusiak was born in Jarocin, Polish People's Republic, Poland. As a young athlete he was a 3000 metres bronze medallist at the 1983 European Athletics Junior Championships, becoming the first Pole to reach the podium in that event. Gary Martin Staines (born 3 July 1963) is a male British former long-distance runner who competed at the 1988 Summer Olympics. Biography At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, he represented Great Britain in the 5,000 metres. He was the silver medallist in the 5000 metres at the 1990 European Athletics Championships. Salvatore Antibo (born 7 February 1962) is a former long-distance runner from Italy. He won nine medals at the International athletics competitions. but he never won a national championship (neither outdoor nor indoor). Biography Antibo was born on 7 February 1962 in Altofonte, within the province of Palermo (Sicily). Gennaro Di Napoli (born 5 March 1968) is an Italian former middle distance runner. He won 13 medals at the International athletics competitions, 10 of these at senior level. Biography Di Napoli was born in Naples but moved early in his life to Lombardy, in northern Italy. He excelled in the distances from 800 to 3,000 meters. He won the silver medal at the European Championships in Split 1990 over 1500 metres. He missed out on a medal at the World Championships 1991. Jens-Peter Herold (born 2 June 1965 in Neuruppin) is a retired German middle-distance runner who participated in several international championships in the late 1980s and early 1990s. David Sharpe (born 8 July 1967) is a British former middle-distance runner. Biography Sharpe won a silver medal at the European Championships in Split 1990 over 800 m. Tom McKean
Thomas McKean (born 27 October 1963) is a Scottish former middle-distance runner representing Great Britain and Scotland internationally. He was European champion over the 800 metres in 1990, and a world (1993) and European (1990) indoor champion over the 800 metres, one of the few athletes to be both indoor and outdoor European champion in the event simultaneously.
