1990 AFL Season
The 1990 AFL season was the 94th season of the Australian Football League (AFL) and the first under this name, having been known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. It was the highest level senior Australian rules football competition and administrative body in Victoria; and, as it featured clubs from New South Wales, Queensland and Western Australia, it was the ''de facto'' highest level senior competition in Australia. The season featured fourteen clubs, ran from 31 March until 6 October, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top five clubs. The premiership was won by the Collingwood Football Club for the 14th time, after it defeated by 48 points in the 1990 AFL Grand Final. The 1990 AFL Grand Final was an Australian rules football game contested between the Collingwood Football Club and the Essendon Football Club, held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne on 6 October 1990. It was the 94th annual AFL Grand Final, grand final of the Australian Football League (formerly the Victorian Football League), staged to determine the List of AFL premiers, premiers for the 1990 AFL season. Martin Leslie (Australian Footballer)
Martin Leslie (born 17 November 1962) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Brisbane Bears in the Australian Football League (AFL) and Port Adelaide Football Club in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Leslie made his SANFL debut for Port Adelaide in 1981, winning the club best and fairest award in 1986 and a premiership in 1988. Keith Burns (Australian Footballer)
Keith Burns (born 25 November 1939) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Burns, a rover, was recruited to Collingwood from Preston. He kicked 25 goals in 1960, three of them in a match winning performance against Fitzroy in the Preliminary Final. Burns was then in the forward pocket when Collingwood were comprehensively beaten by Melbourne in the Grand Final. He joined Sandringham in 1962 and won the J. J. Liston Trophy that season. Michael Taylor (Australian Footballer)
Michael S. Taylor (born 30 December 1953) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Collingwood Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL) and for the Norwood Football Club in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). He also played 13 interstate games for South Australia in interstate and State of Origin football. Craig Edwin Bradley (born 23 October 1963) is a former Australian rules footballer and first-class cricketer. Stephen Kernahan
Stephen Scott Kernahan (born 1 September 1963) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL) and for the Glenelg Football Club in the South Australian National Football League (SANFL). Ian "Collo" Collins AM (born 24 October 1942) is a former Australian rules footballer and is now a high-profile businessman. John Dorman Elliott (3 October 1941 – 23 September 2021) was an Australian businessman and state and federal president of the Liberal Party. He had also been president of the Carlton Football Club.
