1989 European Ladies' Team Championship
The 1989 European Ladies' Team Championship took place 5–9 July at Golf de Pals in Girona, Catalonia, Spain. It was the 16th women's golf amateur European Ladies' Team Championship. Venue The hosting course, situated in northern Spain, outside Girona, in the coastal region Costa Brava, Catalonia, 80 kilometres (50 miles) north of Barcelona, saw its first holes inaugurated in 1966. It was extended to 18 holes, designed by golf course architect Fred W. Hawtree, in 1970. Two years later the course hosted the 1972 Spanish Open, the very first tournament of the first official season of the European Tour. The championship course was set up with par 73. Format All participating teams played two qualification rounds of stroke-play with six players, counted the five best scores for each team. Julie Hall (golfer)
Julie Pauline Hall ( Wade, later Otto, born 10 March 1967) is an English golfer. She won the Ladies' British Open Amateur Championship twice, in 1990 and 1995, and the English Women's Amateur Championship three times. She played in five Curtis Cup matches from 1988 to 1996. She turned professional in 2011 to follow a career in golf tuition. Golf career Hall first came to prominence at the age of 20, when she won the 1987 English Women's Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship at Northumberland golf club, winning by 7 strokes from Alison Johns. Janet Kay Melville (later Collingham, also Davies; born 16 March 1958) is an English golfer. She won two important championships, the 1978 Women's British Open and the 1987 Ladies' British Open Amateur Championship. Golf career Melville played for England in the 1976 Girls Home Internationals. In 1978 she won the Women's British Open at Foxhills, two strokes ahead of Wilma Aitken. Linda Bayman
Linda Louise Denison-Pender Bayman (born 10 June 1948) is an English golfer. Personal life Bayman was born Linda Louise Denison-Pender to Louise (née Riviere) and Richard Ernest Denison-Pender in 1948. She married John Edward Bayman in 1973 and thereafter competed under her married name, Bayman. Following her marriage she played relatively little top-level golf until 1982. Karina Ørum
Karina Ørum (born 29 May 1967) is a Danish professional golfer. She was the first Danish member of the Ladies European Tour, where she finished runner-up four times 1993–1997 and narrowly missed out on a Solheim Cup place. Early life and amateur career Ørum grew up the step-daughter to Peter Dangerfield, an English professional golfer who moved to Denmark as a club pro in the late 1970s. Pernille Carlson Pedersen is a Danish amateur golfer. She won the 1992 British Ladies Amateur. Career Carlson Pedersen is from Holbæk and had a successful amateur career. She won the inaugural Danish Junior Championship in 1983, and both the Danish Stroke Play Championship (DM Slagspil) and Danish Match Play Championship (DM Holspil) in 1990.
