1986 U.S. Women's Open
The 1986 U.S. Women's Open was the 41st U.S. Women's Open, held July 10–14 at the South Course of NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio, a suburb south of Dayton. Jane Geddes won the first of her two major titles in an 18-hole Monday playoff, winning by two strokes over Sally Little. It was the fifth playoff at the U.S. Women's Open and the first in ten years. This was the only of the four majors in 1986 that was not won by Pat Bradley; she narrowly missed the grand slam with a fifth-place finish, three strokes back. Kettering, Ohio
Kettering is a city in Montgomery County, Ohio, Montgomery county in the U.S. state of Ohio. Almost entirely in Montgomery County, it is an inner suburb of Dayton, Ohio. As of the United States Census 2020, 2020 census, the city had a population of 57,862 (down slightly from 58,453 in 2010), making it the largest suburb in Dayton metropolitan area. 1969 PGA Championship
The 1969 PGA Championship was the 51st PGA Championship, played August 14–17 on the South Course of NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio, a suburb south of Dayton. Raymond Floyd, age 26, won the first of his four major titles, one stroke ahead of runner-up Gary Player. Floyd held a five-shot lead after the third round, at 202 (−11), and carded a 74 (+3) on Sunday. During the tournament's third round, demonstrators tried to disrupt the play of Player and Jack Nicklaus. Ice was thrown in Player's face and one spectator yelled while Nicklaus prepared to putt. Deb Richard (born June 13, 1963) is an American former professional golfer who was a member of the LPGA Tour for twenty years during the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s. Amateur career Richard was born in Abbeville, Louisiana in 1963, and raised in Manhattan, Kansas. She first found success as an amateur golfer by winning the Kansas state high school golf championship three consecutive years for Manhattan High School (1979–1981). Jody Rosenthal
Jody Anschutz (born October 18, 1962) is an American professional golfer. She competed as Jody Rosenthal prior to marrying Fred Anschutz on October 14, 1989. Career Rosenthal was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She attended the University of Tulsa. As an amateur she won the 1984 British Ladies Amateur and played for the United States in the 1984 Curtis Cup. Her debut season on the LPGA Tour was 1986 and she won Rookie of the Year honors. In her second season she won two tournaments including the du Maurier Classic, which was then one of the LPGA's major championships, and finished in the top ten in the other three majors on her way to fifth in the money list. From that time on however her career followed a downwards trajectory. She did not win again and did not make the top one hundred on the money list after 1992.
