The 1986 FIFA World Cup qualification UEFA Group 1 was a UEFA qualifying group for the 1986 FIFA World Cup. The group comprised Albania, Belgium, Greece and Poland. Zabrze (; German: 1915–1945: , full form: , , ) is an industrial city put under direct government rule in Silesia in southern Poland, near Katowice. It lies in the western part of the Metropolis GZM, a metropolis with a population of around 2 million. It is in the Silesian Highlands, on the Bytomka River, a tributary of the Oder River, Oder. The Arena Zabrze, officially known as the Stadion im. Ernesta Pohla w Zabrzu (''Ernest Pohl Stadium in Zabrze''), is a football stadium in Zabrze, Poland. It is the home ground of Górnik Zabrze. Originally constructed in 1934, it is currently in the process of complete rebuilding. History Built in 1934 in what was then Germany as ''Adolf-Hitler-Kampfbahn'' (en: ''Adolf Hitler Arena''), this name was used until 1946. Tasos Mitropoulos
Anastasios "Tasos" Mitropoulos (, born 23 August 1957) is a Greek politician and former professional footballer who played as a midfielder. He was given the nickname "Rambo" by Olympiacos fans. Club career Mitropoulos was born in Volos, and started his football career at local team Aris Petroupoli. In 1976, he joined Ethnikos Piraeus, where he played five seasons. In 1981, he moved on to the largest Piraeus club, Olympiacos, winning three league titles and two Greek cup titles with the team. Mitropoulos later played two seasons for AEK Athens, winning two league titles with them, and for Olympiacos' fierce rivals Panathinaikos, albeit only one game. He returned to Olympiacos in 1997 for a final season, retiring at almost 41. Dariusz Paweł Dziekanowski (born 30 September 1962) is a Polish football pundit, coach and former player. He was known as Jacki Dziekanowski during his time playing in the Scottish and English leagues. He started his career at Polonia Warsaw, between 1973 and 1979, throughout the youth set-up and into a very young first team, but went to Gwardia Warszawa from 1979 to 1983. Having not impressed the coach during his final season, he moved to Widzew Łódź in 1985. However, the following year he was selected in Poland 's roster for the 1986 FIFA World Cup. He won the Polish Cup in 1989. He also had a minor career in archery, in 1988. He decided to move to Celtic in 1989 and became a fan favourite after scoring four goals in a European Cup Winners' Cup tie against Partizan Belgrade. He left Celtic to join Bristol City in 1992. Włodzimierz Wojciech Smolarek (16 July 1957 – 7 March 2012) was a Polish footballer who played as a winger or an attacking midfielder. He played most of his 20-year professional career with Widzew Łódź and Utrecht, appearing in more than 200 official games for the former. He amassed Eredivisie totals of 212 matches and 45 goals, over the course of eight seasons. Smolarek represented Poland in two World Cups, earning 60 caps.
