The Famous Five (1970s TV Series)
''The Famous Five'' is a British television series based on the children's books of the same name by Enid Blyton. It was broadcast on ITV over two series in 1978 and 1979. It was produced by Southern Television in 26 half-hour episodes. ATV is a television station in Melbourne, Australia, part of Network 10 – one of the three major Australian free-to-air commercial television networks. ''Diff'rent Strokes'' is an American television sitcom, which originally aired on NBC from November 3, 1978, to May 4, 1985, and on ABC from September 27, 1985, to March 7, 1986. The series stars Gary Coleman and Todd Bridges as Arnold and Willis Jackson, respectively, who are two boys from Harlem taken in by a wealthy Park Avenue businessman and his daughter. ''Earthwatch'' was an Australian children's television show produced by Jon Stephens and Harvey Shore. It aired on Monday afternoons on ABC TV from 1979 and throughout the early 1980s at 5pm within the Alexander the Bunyip Afternoon Show. ''Earthwatch'' was developed as a response to Australia's increasing awareness about environmental issues during the early 1980s. ''Earthwatch'' targeted school-aged children and was presented by young people who interviewed world-renowned environmentalists such as Sir David Attenborough and Australian Densey Clyne. One of the regular contributors was author and composer Brian Mackness. Brian was an environmental consultant for the program since its inception in 1979. ''Skyways'' is an Australian television soap opera drama series made by Crawford Productions for the Seven Network. Production and casting The series, which aired from 1979 to 1981, was set at the fictional Pacific International Airport and dealt with the lives of the pilots, airline staff and management team who worked there. ''Skyways'' was mainly taped in a television studio where, in many interior-set scenes, Colour Separation Overlay created the illusion of a bustling airport with taxiing planes outside the window. Many of the exterior scenes were shot on location at Melbourne Airport. ''Shirl's Neighbourhood'' was an Australian afternoon children's television series which first aired on the Seven Network on Monday the 2nd April 1979 and continued Monday to Fridays till 1983. The half-hour show featured former Skyhooks frontman Graeme "Shirley" Strachan and co-host Liz Rule alongside a cast of characters including Norm The Kangaroo, Ol' Possum, Claude The Crow, Stanley The Snake, Greenfinger the Garden Gnome, Yippee the Bunyip, Igor the Spider, Bartholomew the Sheep and a band of monkeys.
