1978 Cork Senior Hurling Championship
The 1978 Cork Senior Hurling Championship was the 90th staging of the Cork Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Cork County Board in 1887. The championship began on 6 April 1978 and ended on 22 October 1978. St. Finbarr's entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Glen Rovers in the semi-finals. The final was played on 22 October 1978 at Páirc Uí Chaoimh in Cork, between Blackrock and Glen Rovers, in what was their first meeting in the final in two years. Blackrock won the match by 4–12 to 1–07 to claim their 27th championship title overall and a first title in three years. Bandon's Pádraig Crowley was the championship's top scorer with 1-25. Bandon GAA is a Gaelic football and Hurling club based in Bandon, County Cork, Bandon in County Cork, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The club is affiliated with Carbery GAA, Carbery division of Cork GAA, Cork. In 2007, Bandon won the West Cork Junior A Football Championship, beating Muintir Bhaire in the final. Avondhu GAA
Avondhu GAA is a Gaelic football and hurling division in the north of Cork, Ireland. The division includes teams such as Charleville, Mallow, Fermoy, and Mitchelstown. It is one of eight divisions of Cork County Board. It organizes competitions for the clubs within the division, from Under 12 up to the adult level. The winners of these competitions compete against other divisional champions to determine which club is the county champion. Courcey Rovers is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the villages of Ballinspittle and Ballinadee in County Cork, Ireland. The club fields both hurling, Gaelic football and camogie teams. It has historically concentrated on hurling. The club is part of the Carrigdhoun division of Cork competitions. It used to be part of Carbery GAA but moved in the mid-1970s to Carrigdhoun GAA as it felt that it would be offered a higher chance to be able to win county championships, as there are more hurling clubs in the south east division. Ballinhassig () is a village in County Cork, Ireland, situated south of Cork City just off the N71 Bandon road and near the source of the River Owenabue (''Abhainn Bui'', meaning "Yellow River"). Ballinlough () is a mainly residential townland and suburb on the southside of Cork city, in Ireland. It is located between Ballintemple and the larger suburbs of Douglas and Blackrock. Na Piarsaigh Hurling and Football Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Fair Hill, Cork, Ireland. The club is affiliated to the Seandún Board and fields teams in both hurling and Gaelic football. History Located in the Fair Hill area on the northside of Cork, Na Piarsaigh Hurling and Football Club was founded by a group of North Monastery students in 1943. The club is named in honour of Pádraig Pearse, to reflect the nationalist ideals of the club and its members. Sarsfields GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club in Glanmire, County Cork, Ireland. The club, a sister club of Glanmire, is solely concerned with the game of hurling. History Sarsfields GAA Club was established by a group of men, led by Billy O'Neill, in 1894. Named in honour of the Irish Jacobite and soldier Patrick Sarsfield, 1st Earl of Lucan, the club was first formally registered in 1896. Sarsfields claimed their first county honours in 1937, when the Cork JHC was secured, however, there were also Cork SHC final defeats in 1909, 1936, 1940 and 1947. UCC is a football and hurling club associated with University College Cork. UCC teams play in the Cork Senior Football Championship and Cork Senior Hurling Championship as well as the two main third-level competitions namely the Sigerson Cup in football, the Fitzgibbon Cup in hurling and the Ashbourne Cup in camogie. Youghal GAA
Youghal GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the town of Youghal, in County Cork, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The club fields both Hurling and Gaelic football teams and also has junior camogie and ladies football teams. The club is a member of Cork GAA and Imokilly GAA, Imokilly divisional board.
