1976 LPGA Tour
The 1976 LPGA Tour was the 27th season since the LPGA Tour officially began in 1950. The season ran from January 30 to November 27. The season consisted of 31 official money events. Judy Rankin won the most tournaments, six. She also led the money list with earnings of $150,734. The season saw the first official tournaments played outside North America; the Colgate European Open in England, the LPGA/Japan Mizuno Classic in Japan, the Colgate-Hong Kong Open in Hong Kong, and the Colgate Far East Championship in the Philippines. Carol Semple
Carol Semple (born October 27, 1948), also known by her married name Carol Semple Thompson, is an American golfer who participated only on the amateur circuit, and never turned pro. Semple was born in Sewickley, Pennsylvania. She is from a prominent golfing family; her father served as president of the United States Golf Association (USGA) in 1974 and 1975. Her mother played competitive golf and served on various USGA committees for many years. At age 16, Carol Semple won her first tournament by defeating her mother in the finals of the Western Pennsylvania Women's Championship. A 1966 graduate of Miss Porter's School and a 1970 graduate of Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia, she defeated Anne Quast to win the 1973 U.S. Women's Amateur at the Montclair Golf Club in Montclair, New Jersey. Carole Jo Callison
Carole Jo Kabler (June 13, 1938 – March 16, 2017) was an American professional golfer who played on the LPGA Tour. She also competed under her married names: Carole Jo Skala, Carole Jo Callison, and Carole Jo Whitted. Kabler was born in Eugene, Oregon. She had an outstanding amateur career, winning the Oregon Girls' Junior twice (1954, 1955) and the Oregon Women's Open four times (1955, 1961, 1962, 1965), along with several other wins. Susie Maxwell Berning (born July 22, 1941) is a retired American professional golfer. She became a member of the LPGA Tour in 1964 and won four major championships and eleven LPGA Tour victories in all. She also competed under her maiden name Susie Maxwell from 1964 to 1968. She was inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame in 2022. Amateur career Maxwell was born in Pasadena, California. Her family moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma when she was 13.
