1975–76 Isthmian League
The 1975–76 season was the 61st in the history of the Isthmian League, an English football competition. It was the last Isthmian League season to use goal average as a tie-breaker. Enfield won Division One, while Tilbury won Division Two. Isthmian League
The Isthmian League () is a regional Association football, football league covering Greater London, East of England, East and South East England, featuring mostly semi-professional clubs. Founded in 1905 by amateur clubs in the London area, the league now consists of 88 teams in four divisions: the Premier Division above its three feeder divisions, the North, South Central and South East divisions. Together with the Southern Football League, Southern League and the Northern Premier League, it forms the seventh and eighth levels of the English football league system. It has various regional feeder leagues and the league as a whole is a feeder league mainly to the National League South. Leatherhead F
Leatherhead is a town in the Mole Valley district of Surrey, England, about south of Central London. The settlement grew up beside a ford on the River Mole, from which its name is thought to derive. During the late Anglo-Saxon period, Leatherhead was a royal vill and is first mentioned in the will of Alfred the Great in 880 AD. The first bridge across the Mole may have been constructed in around 1200 and this may have coincided with the expansion of the town and the enlargement of the parish church. For much of its history, Leatherhead was primarily an agricultural settlement, with a weekly market being held until the mid-Elizabethan era. The construction of turnpike roads in the mid-18th century and the arrival of the railways in the second half of the 19th century attracted newcomers and began to stimulate the local economy. Champion Hill
Champion Hill is a association football, football stadium in East Dulwich in the London Borough of Southwark. It is the home ground of Dulwich Hamlet F.C., Dulwich Hamlet. History Dulwich Hamlet began playing at the ground in 1912. 'The Hill' was formerly one of the largest amateur grounds in England, with attendances often reaching 20,000 and beyond. Currently, it holds the record for the highest attendance at a league match outside of the English Football League at 16,254 for a 1931 Isthmian League match between Dulwich Hamlet and Nunhead F.C., Nunhead. The ground was also used for football at the 1948 Summer Olympics, staging a game between Mexico and South Korea. When Dulwich Hamlet suffered financial problems, much of the land they owned was sold for development of a Sainsbury's supermarket. The Old Spotted Dog Ground
The Old Spotted Dog Ground in Forest Gate is the oldest senior football ground in London. Clapton Community FC the fan-owned club purchased the ground in June 2020, having been initially awarded the lease. The previous tenants Clapton FC and Hackney Wick FC were ejected from the ground in 2018 due in part to a breach in the lease following non-payment of rent. Clapton Community FC Women's team were able to play their first league games at the Old Spotted Dog from September 2022. Clapton CFC are now the owners of the Old Spotted Dog and projects are under way as of now (April 2023) to refurbish the OSD. On 26 April 2023, Clapton CFC hosted the first competitive match at the Dog since 2019 when they defeated Kensington Dragons 3-0. Leytonstone F
Leytonstone ( ) is an area in East London, England, within the London Borough of Waltham Forest. It adjoins Wanstead to the north-east, Forest Gate to the south-east, Stratford to the south-west, Leyton to the west, and Walthamstow to the north-west, and is north-east of Charing Cross. Historically, it was part of the ancient parish of Leyton in the Becontree hundred of Essex. The first documented evidence of settlement is from the 14th century, describing a hamlet at 'Leyton-atte-stone'; a reference to the Roman milestone located within the area, that formed a northern boundary of the parish. It remained largely rural until the 19th century, becoming part of the London postal district in 1856, the same year its railway station was opened (now on the Central line). Kingstonian Football Club is an English semi-professional association football, football club based in the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, south west London which currently plays in the Isthmian League South Central Division. The club was founded in 1885 by YMCA, named Kingston & Surbiton YMCA, and began competing properly in 1893 in the Surrey Junior Cup. There was a split before the start of the 1908–09 season which damaged the club, the two clubs were named Old Kingstonians and Kingston upon Thames A.F.C. After period of quiet during World War I, the two clubs re-united and joined the Athenian League in 1919, named Kingstonian. In 1929, their application to join the Isthmian League was accepted, and they have competed there to the present day. Woking ( ) is a town and borough status in the United Kingdom, borough in north-west Surrey, England, around from central London.
