1975 WFA Cup Final
The 1975 WFA Cup Final was the fifth final of the FA Women's Cup, England's primary Single-elimination tournament, cup competition for women's association football, women's football teams. It was the fifth final to be held under the direct control of Women's Football Association (WFA). Southampton Women's F.C. and Warminster L.F.C. contested the match at Brewers Hill, the home of Dunstable Town F.C., Dunstable Town on 4 May 1975. The match ended 4–2 in favour of Southampton Women. 1974–75 WFA Cup
The 1974–75 WFA Cup was an association football single-elimination tournament, knockout tournament for women's teams, held between 6 October 1974 and 4 May 1975. It was the 5th season of the WFA Cup and was won by Southampton Women's F.C., Southampton, who defeated Warminster L.F.C., Warminster in the 1975 WFA Cup final, final. Sue Buckett
Sue Buckett (born 1 January 1944) is a former England women's international footballer. She represented England at senior international level and spent most of her career at Southampton Women's F.C. Buckett won the Women's FA Cup eight times between 1971 and 1981 and was the first ever goalkeeper to save a penalty in the competition's final. Club career Buckett won the WFA Cup eight times with Southampton and was captain in six of their winning finals. Her first winners medal came in 1971 when they beat Stewarton Thistle 4–1 at Crystal Palace National Sports Centre. Buckett has the distinction of being the first ever goalkeeper to save a penalty in a WFA Cup final which she achieved in 1975, when she saved a penalty taken by Eileen Foreman of Warminster. Susan Melody Lopez (born 1 September 1945) is an English former footballer who played as a left winger. She spent her entire club career with Southampton, except for a season in Italy's Serie A with Roma CF in 1971. A leading advocate of the women's game in England, Lopez has also worked as a coach, administrator and writer since her retirement from playing. Playing career At the age of 21, in 1966, Lopez made her debut for Southampton. She was a regular in the side for almost twenty years until her retirement from playing in 1985. It was in the 1970s, when women's football was in its infancy, that Lopez and her Southampton dominated the Women's FA Cup.
