1975 TANFL Season
The 1975 Tasmanian Australian National Football League ( TANFL) premiership season was an Australian rules football competition staged in Hobart, Tasmania over nineteen (19) roster rounds and four (4) finals series matches between 29 March and 20 September 1975. A twentieth roster round scheduled for 30 August was abandoned due to inclement weather conditions and was never replayed as all positions on the ladder could not change regardless of results, the TFL executive also expressed the view that with most grounds in quagmire-like condition and being closed by their respective Councils, it would be a prudent move to cancel the round in order to freshen up the playing surface of North Hobart Oval for the following week's finals. Clarence Football Club
The Clarence Football Club, nicknamed the Kangaroos, is an Australian rules football club playing in the Tasmanian State League, based in Bellerive, Tasmania. Before 1947, they existed as Bellerive Football Club. The Club play their home games at Blundstone Arena (formerly Bellerive Oval), Hobart's Test Cricket ground, they share the facilities with Tasmania's cricket team, the Tasmanian Tigers. John Devine (Australian Rules Footballer)
John Herbert Devine (22 June 1940 – 29 January 2023) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Geelong in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1960s, and Tasmanian Football League (TFL) side North Hobart between 1967 and 1974. Australian rules football career A defender, Devine was recruited to as a 20-year-old from Colac, and he made his debut for Geelong against Footscray in round 1 of the 1960 VFL season. Devine would quickly become an integral part of a rising Geelong team. On 6 July 1963, he was a member of the Geelong team that were comprehensively and unexpectedly beaten by Fitzroy, 9.13 (67) to 3.13 (31) in the 1963 Miracle Match. Given the nickname "Colac" by his teammates, in 1963 Devine was a member of Geelong's premiership team playing off the half-back flank where he was named amongst the best for Geelong. Waverley Park
Waverley Park (also and originally called VFL Park) is an Australian rules football stadium in Mulgrave, Victoria, Australia. The first venue to be designed and built specifically for Australian Rules football, for most of its history, its purpose was as a neutral venue and used by all Victorian-based Victorian Football League/Australian Football League clubs. During the 1990s it became the home ground of both the Hawthorn and St Kilda football clubs. It ceased to be used for AFL games from the 2000 season following the opening of Docklands Stadium. 1975 Knockout Carnival
The 1975 Knockout Carnival was the 19th Australian National Football Carnival, an Australian football interstate competition. The tournament was won by Victoria. The 1975 carnival represented a significant change in format for the carnival. Previous carnivals had all been played as a stand-alone event in a single host city, with each team playing the others in a round robin competition; but the 1975 carnival was played as a shortened knock-out tournament and split between two cities. The Queensland Australian Football League (QAFL or "Q-A-F-L") is an Australian rules football competition organised by the AFL Queensland, contested by clubs from South East Queensland. Northern Tasmanian Football Association (1886–1986)
The Northern Tasmanian Football Association (NTFA) was an Australian rules football competition which ran from 1886 to 1986. In its time it was one of the three main leagues in Tasmania, with the Tasmanian Football League and North West Football Union representing the rest of the state. It was based in the city of Launceston, Tasmania, Launceston. Devonport Oval
Devonport Oval is an Australian rules football, cricket and athletics stadium in Devonport, Tasmania. It is the home stadium for the Devonport Football Club in the Tasmanian State League (TSL) and for the Devonport Cricket Club in the NWTCA competition. The oval also hosts the Devonport Athletics & Cycling Carnival each year and regularly attracts interstate competitors. The stadium has a capacity of 13,000 people, and has recently undergone upgrades for increased lighting to be used for night football matches in the TSL in 2009. North West Football Union
The North West Football Union (NWFU) was an Australian rules football competition which ran from 1910 to 1986 on the North West Tasmania, north-western coast of Tasmania. In its time it was one of the three main leagues in Tasmania, with the Tasmanian Football League in Hobart and Northern Tasmanian Football Association (1886–1986), Northern Tasmanian Football Association in Launceston representing the rest of the state. Burnie Dockers Football Club, Burnie, Latrobe Football Club, Latrobe and Ulverstone Robins Football Club, Ulverstone were the most successful clubs with 12 premierships each.
