Alfred Daley
Alfred Daley (born 18 November 1949) is a Jamaican former sprinter who competed in three consecutive Summer Olympics, in the Munich 1972 Summer Olympics, the Montreal 1976 Summer Olympics and the Moscow 1980 Summer Olympics. Daley ran in international, local Jamaican, and USA competitions representing the Jamaica national team in three Olympics, the NCAA at Seton Hall University, Essex County College, and as a member of the New York Athletics Club. In addition to the Olympics, Daley competed in the Central American Caribbean Games, the Penn Relays and New York's Melrose Games. His greatest individual honour was the 400 metres sprint title at the 1971 Central American and Caribbean Championships in Athletics, which he took in a championship record time of 46.6 seconds. Rodolfo Gómez Orozco (born 30 October 1950 in Delicias, Chihuahua) is a Mexican retired long-distance runner, who was one of the leading runners represented from Mexico in the 1970s and 1980s. He won the Tokyo Marathon (1981), the IAAF Citizen Golden Marathon in Athens (1982), the Rotterdam Marathon (1982), the Nike OTC Marathon (1982), the Pittsburgh Marathon (1987) and the Mexico City Marathon (1987). He gained prominence on American television in 1982 when he finished in second place, four seconds back in 2:09:33 while being the primary foil to Alberto Salazar's third victory in a row at the New York Marathon. The event is part of the athletics programme at the Olympic Games and the World Athletics Championships, and is common at championship level events. The 1500 metres or 1,500-metre run (typically pronounced 'fifteen-hundred metres') is the foremost middle distance track event in athletics. The distance has been contested at the Summer Olympics since 1896 and the World Championships in Athletics since 1983. It is equivalent to 1.5 kilometers or approximately miles.
