The Adelaide International Raceway (also known as Adelaide International or AIR) is a permanent circuit owned by Australian Motorsport Club Limited under the auspices of the Bob Jane Corporation. Bowin Cars was an Australian designer and manufacturer of motor racing cars from 1968 to 1976. The company was founded by John Vincent Joyce (1938–2002), a successful designer and builder of racing cars and in later years gas appliances incorporating Low NOx Technology. Charles Lucas Engineering were manufacturers of Titan Formula cars from 1967 to 1976 and engines and components for racing cars. The company was renamed Titan Motorsport and Manufacturing Ltd after it ceased car manufacturing. Origins Charles Lucas was a qualified engineer who had started racing in the early 1960s. In 1963, his friends got involved with the then new Formula 3 class of cars. In 1964, Lucas had a clone Lotus 31 built for him by Roy Thomas. In 1965, he managed and raced in a team with Brabham BT10s. This was so successful that Colin Chapman had Charles Lucas Engineering run the Lotus Formula 3 works team in 1966. Oran Park Raceway was a Auto racing, motor racing circuit at Narellan, New South Wales, Narellan south west of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia which was operational from February 1962 until its closure in January 2010. The track was designed and started by George Murray and Jack Allen. Since its closure in 2010 it has been (re)developed into housing. Surfers Paradise International Raceway was a motor racing complex at Gold Coast, Queensland, Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The long circuit was designed and built by Keith Williams (developer), Keith Williams, a motor racing enthusiast who also designed and built the Adelaide International Raceway (AIR) in South Australia in 1972. It was located opposite the Surfers Paradise Ski Gardens at Carrara, Queensland, Carrara. The circuit Surfers Paradise Raceway included a dragstrip along the main straight (a design later incorporated into the Williams owned Adelaide International Raceway), with a very fast right-hander under the Dunlop Bridge leading to a tight corner that turned the track back to a medium-length straight. Birrana F73
Birrana was the name of two motor racing organisations, both associated with South Australian racing driver and engineer Malcolm Ramsay. From 1971 to 1978 Birrana constructed a series of successful open-wheel racing cars under the Birrana name. It also constructed a Holden Kingswood HQ for Ramsay to compete in Group C Improved Production Touring Cars racing. Ramsay brought the Birrana name back to motor racing in the 1990s running a series of Reynard Motorsport built Formula 3000 chassis in the Australian Drivers' Championship. Birrana came to dominate the championship winning titles with Jason Bright, Paul Stokell, Rick Kelly and Simon Wills as well as giving Mark Webber his first racing experience of wings and slicks open-wheeler racing. The Australian Formula Ford Championship is an Australian motor racing competition for drivers of Formula Ford racing cars, held annually since 1970.
