1972 Cup Of The Ukrainian SSR
The Ukrainian Cup 1972 was a football knockout competition conducting by the Football Federation of Ukrainian SSR and was known as the Ukrainian Cup. The Cup started with the preliminary round on November 4, 1972, and involved the republican level non-amateur clubs. The main event started from the round of 16 on November 8, 1972, when other clubs joined the competition such as Shakhtar, Chornomorets, Metalist, and others, while some of them represented by their second squad. Dynamo Kyiv has chosen not to participate in it since its last winning season in 1948. The competition concluded in just over two weeks in Kiev on November 19. Note that the tournament took place after the Soviet football season was over and was conducted in rather unsupported weather conditions as the cold period in Ukraine starts usually in September or October, depending on location. SKA Lviv
SKA Lviv was a Soviet multi-sports club founded in Lviv, Ukrainian SSR. The club was created as part of sport section of the Carpathian Military District in 1949 and existed until 1989. As SKA Karpaty the club dissolved the main team was reorganized as SFK Drohobych and moved to Drohobych, Lviv Oblast (see FC Halychyna Drohobych), simultaneously FC Karpaty Lviv was reinstated as well. FC CSKA Kyiv ( uk, "ЦСКА Київ") is a Ukrainian amateur football club, until 2001 of the Central Sports Club of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which is government sponsored by the Ministry of Defense. FC Frunzenets-Liha-99 Sumy was a football club based in a city of Sumy in Ukraine. The club represented a mechanical engineering factory of the Frunze Science and Production Association in Sumy. History The club was founded in 1960 as ''FC Avanhard Sumy''. That used to be a common name of all newly founded football clubs in Ukraine at that time. Football Club Mariupol ( uk, Футбольний клуб "Маріуполь" ) was a Ukrainian professional football club based in Mariupol, that competed in the Ukrainian Premier League. FC Zirka Kropyvnytskyi ( uk, ФК "Зірка Кропивницький") is a Ukrainian amateur football club from Kropyvnytskyi, Kirovohrad Oblast, with its team currently playing in the Ukrainian Amateur League. The club traces its history of a football team that existed at the British factory of Elvorti (Elworthy) since 1911. After the occupation of Ukraine by Bolsheviks, the factory was "nationalized", its team was dissolved, and the factory was converted into Soviet factory "Chervona Zirka", hence the club's name. FC Avanhard Ternopil was a football club based in Ternopil, Ukrainian SSR. The club played in the Soviet Second League 1960–1971. During that time the club also used to be called ''Budivelnyk''. Its games it played at Ternopilsky Misky Stadion that was called ''Avanhard Stadium''. Currently in Ternopil there is another football club, FC Nyva Ternopil that one might mistakenly confuse with the former Avanhard. FC Shakhtar Makiivka was a Ukrainian football club from Makiivka, Donetsk Oblast. History The club was established in 1981 as Bazhanovets Makiivka representing the Bazhanov coal mine of the State mining enterprise Makiyivvuhol (Makeyevugol). FC Shakhtar Horlivka ( uk, Шахтар (Горлівка)) was a Ukrainian football club from Horlivka, Donetsk Oblast. Since its relegation from professional leagues in 2000, the club participated in the regional competitions of Donetsk Oblast until the War in Donbass. The club is associated with the coal mining company Artemvuhillya (Artemugol) out of Horlivka.
