1969 Isle Of Man TT
The 1969 Isle of Man TT, the fourth round of the 1969 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season, involved a number of races on the Mountain Course on the Isle of Man. For the second year running Giacomo Agostini won both the Junior and Senior races, completing the six laps of the latter race in 2:09.40.2 to win by almost nine minutes. There were three "production" categories; Malcolm Uphill won the 750 cc, Graham Penny the 500 cc and Mike Rogers the 250 cc. German pairs won both sidecar events; Klaus Enders and Ralf Engelhardt in the 500 cc and Siegfried Schauzu and H.Schneider in the 750 cc. 1969 Grand Prix Motorcycle Racing Season
The 1969 Grand Prix motorcycle racing season was the 21st Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, F.I.M. Grand Prix motorcycle racing, Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix season. The season consisted of twelve Grand Prix races in six classes: 500cc, 350cc, 250cc, 125cc, 50cc and Sidecars 500cc. It began on 4 May, with Spanish motorcycle Grand Prix, Spanish Grand Prix and ended with Yugoslavian motorcycle Grand Prix, Yugoslavian Grand Prix on 14 September. Season summary Giacomo Agostini on an MV Agusta continued to dominate the larger classes, once again winning the 350 and 500 classes against little factory-mounted opposition. The 250 class saw a tight three-way battle go down to the last race with Benelli (motorcycles), Benelli's Kel Carruthers coming out on top against Kent Andersson (motorcyclist), Kent Andersson and Santiago Herrero. Ossa (motorcycle)
Ossa was a Spanish motorcycle manufacturer which was active from 1924 to 1982 and from 2010 to 2015. Founded by Manuel Giró, an industrialist from Barcelona, Ossa was best known for lightweight, two-stroke-engined bikes used in observed trials, motocross and enduro. The company was known originally as ''Orpheo Sincronic Sociedad Anónima (O.S.S.A.)'' and was later renamed ''Maquinaria Cinematográfica, S.A.''. The Ossa brand was reborn in 2010 when the trademark was purchased by an investment group and produced motorcycles until 2014 when, the company merged with the Spanish motorcycle manufacturer Gas Gas. Santiago Herrero
Santiago Herrero Ruiz (9 May 1943 – 10 June 1970) was a Spanish professional motorcycle racer. He competed in the FIM Grand Prix motorcycle racing world championships from 1968 to 1970 as a member of the Ossa factory racing team. As Spain began to emerge from the Franco Era, Herrero became the country's most promising international motorcycle racer until he died from injuries sustained while competing in the 1970 Isle of Man TT race. Biography Born in Madrid, Spain, Herrero bought his first motorcycle at the age of 12. In 1962, he obtained his racing license, competing on a Derbi and doing his own maintenance. He soon moved up to a Bultaco Tralla 125 and caught the eye of Luis Bejarano, the owner of Lube (a Spanish motorcycle marque) who recognized Herrero's talent. Frank Perris
Frank Perris (May 28, 1931 – March 17, 2015) was a Canadian Grand Prix motorcycle road racer and TT rider from Toronto. Perris was noticed by the Suzuki team after his third-place in the 1961 500 cc World Championship, becoming a contracted-rider from 1962 until 1966. His best season was in 1965 when he won two 125cc Grand Prix races aboard a Suzuki two-stroke, and finished the year in second place in the 125cc world championship behind Hugh Anderson. Colin Jordan Seeley (2 January 1936 – 7 January 2020) was a British motorcycle retailer who later became a motorcycle Sidecar World Championship, sidecar racer, motorcycle designer, constructor and retailer of accessories. Helmut Fath (24May 192919June 1993) was a German sidecar racer and engineer. He won the Sidecar World Championship FIM Sidecar World Championship is the international sidecar racing championship. It is the only remaining original Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, FIM road racing championship class that started in 1949. It was formerly named Supersi ... in 1960 and 1968. His early racing was on BMW R50 sidecars with a chassis of his own design.
