1962 Texas Gubernatorial Election
The 1962 Texas gubernatorial election was held on November 6, 1962, to elect the governor of Texas. Incumbent Democratic governor Price Daniel was running for reelection to a fourth term, but was defeated in the primary by John Connally. Although Connally was easily elected, Republican Jack Cox's 46% of the vote was the highest received by any Republican candidate for governor since Edmund J. Davis's victory in 1869. Plainview, Texas
Plainview is a city in and the county seat of Hale County, Texas, Hale County, Texas, United States. The population was 20,187 at the 2020 United States census, 2020 census. History Plainview began when Z. T. Maxwell and Edwin Lowden Lowe established a post office on March 18, 1887. The town received its name due to the vast treeless plain surrounding it. In Minnesota, the governor was elected to a 4-year term for the first time, instead of a 2-year term. In North Dakota, this was the last election on a 2-year cycle, before switching to a 4-year term for governors. The Democratic and Republican parties each gained seven governorships from the other party, leaving the overall partisan balance unchanged.
