Group 1 of the 1962 FIFA World Cup took place from 30 May to 7 June 1962. The group consisted of Colombia national football team, Colombia, the Soviet Union national football team, Soviet Union, Uruguay national football team, Uruguay, and Yugoslavia national football team, Yugoslavia. Uruguayan harsh tackling led to Zuluaga's injury. In the second half Uruguay could come back from behind with Luis Cubilla and José Sasía's shots. 1962 FIFA World Cup
The 1962 FIFA World Cup was the 7th edition of the FIFA World Cup, the quadrennial international football championship for senior men's national teams. It was held from 30 May to 17 June 1962 in Chile. The qualification rounds took place between August 1960 and December 1961, with 56 teams entering from six confederations, and fourteen qualifying for the finals tournament alongside Chile, the hosts, and Brazil, the defending champions. Brazil successfully defended their World Cup title, defeating Czechoslovakia 3–1 in the final in the Chilean capital Santiago. They became the second team, after Italy in 1934 and 1938, to win the World Cup twice consecutively; no team has since achieved the feat. Marco Tulio Coll Tesillo (23 August 1935 – 5 June 2017), also known as ''El Olímpico'' was a Colombian professional footballer. He played for Junior de Barranquilla and other clubs, and represented Colombia in the 1962 FIFA World Cup. He was famous for scoring the first and only Olympic goal in any men's FIFA World Cup, beating legendary goalkeeper Lev Yashin in a 4–4 draw against the Soviets in 1962. Efraín Elías "El Caimán" Sánchez Casimiro (26 February 1926 – 16 January 2020) was a Colombian footballer who played as goalkeeper. Néstor Goncálvez Martinicorena (27 April 1936 – 29 December 2016) was a Uruguayan footballer who played as a midfielder for Uruguay in the 1962 and 1966 FIFA World Cups. He mainly played for C.A.
