Herbert Arthur Wiglev Clamor Grönemeyer (born 12 April 1956) is a German singer, musician, producer, composer and actor, popular in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Grönemeyer starred as war correspondent Lieutenant Werner in Wolfgang Petersen's 1981 film '' Das Boot'', but later focused on his musical career. His fifth album ''4630 Bochum'' (1984) and his 11th album '' Mensch'' (2002) are the third and first best-selling records in Germany respectively, making Grönemeyer the most successful artist in Germany with combined album sales over 13 million. Early life Grönemeyer was born on 12 April 1956 in Göttingen. He often refers to his personal roots as living in Bochum though, where he spent most of his childhood, youth and early adulthood. Carmen Nebel
Carmen Nebel (born 24 July 1956 in Grimma, then East Germany) is a German television presenter. Nebel majored in German studies, English studies and pedagogy at Humboldt University of Berlin. After completing her degree she began appearing on GDR television, working for Deutscher Fernsehfunk (DFF) throughout the 1980s. In 1989 she hosted her own television show ''Sprungbrett''. After the fall of the Berlin Wall and German reunification she worked for German broadcasters ARD, NDR and MDR. From June 1994 to 2003 she presented the Schlager show Feste der Volksmusik on ARD. She has been presenting ''Willkommen bei Carmen Nebel'' and ''Die schönsten Weihnachts-Hits'' since January 2004 on ZDF. Nebel lives in Berlin and has one child. He is a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), part of the Party of European Socialists. Personal life Udo Bullmann was born on 8 June 1956 in Giessen, Germany. Academic career Bullmann studied political science, sociology, public law, as well as economics. In 1982 he received a M.A. in political science and 1988 the doctorate in social science. Hans-Peter Ferner (born 6 June 1956 in Neuburg an der Donau, Bavaria) is a (West) German former middle-distance runner who won the gold medal over 800 m at the 1982 European Championships in Athletics in Athens where he unexpectedly defeated world-record holder Sebastian Coe. Those were Ferner's second and last European Athletics Championships, because he had competed already in the 1978 European Championships in Prague, where he had been eliminated in the 800-metre heats or semifinals. Coe had suffered from injuries and a glandular sickness which made him underachieve in Athens. Petra Morsbach (born 1 June 1956) is a German author. Life and career Morsbach was born in Zürich, but grew up in Germany. She studied at Munich University and Leningrad Theater Academy. Morsbach's first novel, ''Plötzlich ist es Abend'' (''Suddenly it's Evening''), was published in 1995 and follows the life of a Russian woman whose family was prosecuted by Joseph Stalin. ''Opernroman'', her second novel, was published in 1998 and is based on Morsbach's experience working in theatre for a decade. It is set in the fictional town of Neustadt am Rhein and centers around the local opera company throughout a season. Fritz Hilpert
Friedrich "Fritz" Hilpert (born 31 May 1956) is a member of the electropop group Kraftwerk. Background Fritz Hilpert studied trumpet and percussion at the Musisches Max-Reger-Gymnasium, Germany, until 1976. He also played drums in several live bands at that time. From 1978 he studied sound engineering at the Musikhochschule Rheinland and the FH Düsseldorf. In 1986 he received his Diplom-Ingenieur qualification (the German equivalent of a Master of Science degree) in sound and image technology. He worked as freelance sound engineer with several German acts as the new wave-band Din A Testbild before becoming associated with Kraftwerk in 1989. In addition to studio work, he replaced Wolfgang Flür in concert when Kraftwerk resumed their touring activities in 1990, and engineered the album '' The Mix'', released in 1991.
