The 1932 NFL season was the 13th regular season of the National Football League. It was a year marked by a decrease in the number of franchises to just eight and the last time all teams were encompassed in a single division. City Stadium is an American football stadium in Green Bay, Wisconsin, on the north side of the Green Bay East High School property. 1943 NFL Season
The 1943 NFL season marked the 24th year of the National Football League. The league contracted to just eight teams, owing to wartime pressures for manpower, with each team playing a regular season schedule of 10 games — 40 contests in all. The season began Sunday, September 19 and culminated on Sunday, December 12, 1943. Due to the exodus of players who had left to serve in World War II, the Cleveland Rams were granted permission to suspend operations for this season, while the Philadelphia Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers merged for this one season, with the combined team (known as Phil-Pitt and called the "Steagles" by fans) playing four home games in Philadelphia and two in Pittsburgh. Frankford Yellow Jackets
The Frankford Yellow Jackets were a professional American football team, part of the National Football League from 1924 to 1931, although its origin dates back to as early as 1899 with the Frankford Athletic Association. Cleveland Indians (NFL 1931)
The Cleveland Indians were a professional football team in the National Football League for the 1931 season. The 1931 team was a league-sponsored club that played the majority of their games on the road. The NFL had acquired the franchise of the Orange/Newark Tornadoes when that team left the league after the 1930 season; the league intended to locate this team permanently in Cleveland with new ownership. Jerry Corcoran assumed ownership of the team on behalf of the NFL and assumed management of the team. Providence Steam Roller
The Providence Steam Rollers (also referred to as the Providence Steam Roller, the Providence Steamroller and the Providence Steamrollers) were a professional American football team based in Providence, Rhode Island in the National Football League (NFL) from 1925 to 1931. The Washington Commanders are a professional American football team based in the Washington metropolitan area. Thompson Stadium (Staten Island)
Thompson Stadium was a football stadium located on Staten Island and used by the Staten Island Stapletons of the National Football League from 1924 until 1933. It was located on the site of present Berta A. Dreyfus Intermediate School 49 and the Stapleton Houses. The stadium was built in the early 1920s by the wealthy owner of the local Thompson's Lumber Company. It was built against a hill in Staten Island's Stapleton neighborhood and doubled in summer as a home for semi-pro baseball. Inside its stockade fence, about 8,000 uncovered bleacher seats encircled the field. The field's locker rooms consisted of sheds standing just outside the fence. Stapleton's owner, Dan Blaine, owned a restaurant which was located next door to the stadium, and after games and practices players and fans would meet up for beers. Harold Hansen (American Football)
Harold Frederick Hansen (November 30, 1894 – June 23, 1977) was an American football player and coach, and basketball coach. He played with the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL) in 1923, was a player and head coach for the Newark Bears (AFL), Newark Bears/Demons of the American Football League (1926), American Football League in 1926, and was head coach of the Staten Island Stapletons from 1927 to 1929 and again in 1932. Hansen played college football as a Halfback (American football), falfback at the University of Minnesota. Universal Stadium
Spartan Municipal Stadium, formerly known as Universal Stadium, is a stadium in Portsmouth, Ohio. It hosted the National Football League's Portsmouth Spartans (now the Detroit Lions) from 1930 to 1933, as well as local high school teams. The stadium held 8,200 people at its peak and was built in 1928. In 1970, it was renamed Spartan Municipal Stadium. On October 5, 2003, the stadium was designated as a state historical site. The stadium is owned by Shawnee State University. After a fire in the 1990s, the city replaced walls and the press box. The lighting was upgraded using funds from a USDA grant.
