1932 Major League Baseball Season
The 1932 major league baseball season began on April 11, 1932. The regular season ended on September 25, with the Chicago Cubs and New York Yankees as the regular season champions of the National League and American League, respectively. The postseason began with Game 1 of the 29th World Series on September 28 and ended with Game 4 on October 2. The Yankees swept the Cubs in four games, capturing their fourth championship in franchise history, since their previous in . The American League of Professional Baseball Clubs, known simply as the American League (AL), is the younger of two sports leagues, leagues constituting Major League Baseball (MLB) in the United States and Canada. It developed from the Western League (original), Western League, a minor league based in the Great Lakes region, Great Lakes states, which eventually aspired to Major League Baseball, major league status. Washington Senators (1901–1960)
The Washington Senators were a Major League Baseball team based in Washington, D.C.. It was one of the American League's eight charter franchises, founded in . The team moved to Minneapolis in , becoming the Minnesota Twins. The team was officially named the "Senators" during –, the Nationals during – and the Senators again during –, but nonetheless was commonly referred to as the Senators throughout its history (and unofficially as the "Grifs" during Clark Griffith's tenure as manager during –).
