James Duncan McGregor
James Duncan McGregor (August 29, 1860 – March 15, 1935) was a Canadian agricultural pioneer and officeholder. He served as the 11th Lieutenant Governor of Manitoba between 1929 and 1934. McGregor was born in Amherstburg, Canada West (now Ontario), and was educated at public schools in Windsor but did not attend college. He moved to Manitoba in 1877, and worked in his father's cattle business in Brandon. McGregor was one of several pioneers to the Yukon following the Klondike Gold Rush of 1896, and served as Mine Inspector of the Yukon Territory from 1897 to 1899. He subsequently bought a ranch near Medicine Hat (now in Alberta), and owned 800 km2 (200,000 acres) with 10,000 head of cattle and 2,000 horses. For ten years, McGregor also managed the British-owned Canada Land and Irrigation Company and helped build reservoirs and canal systems near Milo, in Vulcan County, Alberta. Henry George Carroll
Henry George Carroll, (January 31, 1865 – August 20, 1939) was a Canadian politician, jurist and the 16th Lieutenant Governor of Quebec from 1929 to 1934 and the last anglophone to serve in that position to the present day. Born in Kamouraska, Canada East to Michael Burke Carroll of Ireland and Marguerite Campbell of Scotland, Carroll studied law at Laval University, was called to the Quebec Bar in 1889, and was created a Queen's Counsel in 1899. A Liberal, he was first elected to the House of Commons of Canada in 1891 representing Kamouraska (federal electoral district), Kamouraska and was re-elected in 1896 and 1900. Charles Dalton (June 9, 1850 – December 9, 1933) was a Canadian businessman, politician and philanthropist on Prince Edward Island. Biography Charles Dalton was born at Tignish, Prince Edward Island, the son of Patrick Dalton and Margaret McCarthy. He first worked as a farmer and then as a druggist. He married Anne Gavin in 1874. Dalton earned his fortune through silver fox breeding, in the process making the island the centre of the world's trade in the fur-bearing animal. William Donald Ross (June 20, 1869 – June 25, 1947), was a financier, banker and the List of lieutenant governors of Ontario#Lieutenant Governors of Ontario, 1867–present, 14th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. Frank Stanfield
Frank Stanfield (April 24, 1872 – September 25, 1931) was an entrepreneur in Nova Scotia, Canada, who was the 15th Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia (1930–31) and represented Colchester County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly (1911–20 and 1925–30). He was the father of the politicians Robert Lorne Stanfield and Frank Thomas Stanfield. Early life He was born in Truro, Nova Scotia, the son of Charles E. Stanfield, who established the Stanfield Mills in Truro, and Lydia Dawson. In 1896, with his brother John Stanfield, he took over the operation of the business, which was incorporated as Stanfield's Limited in 1906. James Cranswick Tory (October 24, 1862 – June 26, 1944) was a Nova Scotia businessman and politician. He was born in 1862 to Robert Kirk Tory and Anorah Ferguson in Guysborough County and lived in the village of Guysborough. He attended McGill University in Montreal and worked at Sun Life Assurance Company. In 1894, he married Caroline Whitman. Tory served as a Liberal MLA for Guysborough County in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1911 to 1925. He was a minister without portfolio in the province's Executive Council from 1921 to 1925. Tory was appointed the 14th Lieutenant Governor of Nova Scotia and served from 1925 to 1930. He died in Halifax.
