Andreas Kirkerup
Andreas Johannes Kirkerup (9 June 1749 – 22 October 1810) was a Danish architect and master builder, one of the most significant pupils of Caspar Frederik Harsdorff. Together with architects such as Andreas Hallander and Johan Martin Quist, he played a major role in the rebuilding of Copenhagen after the Great Fire of 1795. Early life and education Kirkerup was born in on 9 June 1749 Copenhagen, the son of carpenter Johannes Andreasen Kirkerup (død 1755) and Dorothea Pedersdatter Wiese. Kirkerup followed in his father's footsteps, training under master builder Johan Boye Junge (1735–1807) who endorsed him to study architecture at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts where he studied under Caspar Frederik Harsdorff (1735 – 1799). He won the Academy's small and large silver medals in 1768, the small gold medal in 1771 and finally the large gold medal in 1773. Thomas Jacobsen (violin Maker)
Thomas Jacobsen (1810-1853) was a Danish violin maker who operated his own workshop in Copenhagen from 1746 and was granted status of court violin maker. Biography Jacobsen was initially apprenticed to a carpenter, Peder Hansen Holm, in Jutland, and then to Niels Jensen Lund in Copenhagen. In 1841-44, he worked independently as a violin maker in Copenhagen. He then went on a longer journey abroad to further his education, working for among others for Vuillaume in Paris, Back in Denmark, in 1847, he started his own workshop in Copenhagen with status of court violin maker. He died from cholera in the 1853 Copenhagen cholera outbreak The 1853 Copenhagen cholera outbreak was a severe outbreak of cholera which occurred in Copenhagen, Denmark in 1853 as part of the third cholera pandemic. Wilhelm Marstrand
Nicolai Wilhelm Marstrand (24 December 1810 – 25 March 1873), painter and illustrator, was born in Copenhagen, Denmark, to Nicolai Jacob Marstrand, instrument maker and inventor, and Petra Othilia Smith. Marstrand is one of the most renowned artists belonging to the Golden Age of Danish Painting. Early development and academy training Marstrand studied at Copenhagen's Metropolitan School (''Metropolitanskolen''), but had little interest in books, and left around 16 years of age. Christoffer Wilhelm Eckersberg, painter and professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Art (''Det Kongelige Danske Kunstakademi'') in Copenhagen, was a close friend of Wilhelm's father, and it was to all appearance Eckersberg who recommended an artistic career for young Wilhelm. Peter Faber (Danish Telegraph Specialist)
Peter Christian Frederik Faber (7 October 1810 in Copenhagen – 25 April 1877) was a Danish telegraphy pioneer and song writer. In Denmark, he is remembered first and foremost for his songwriting. Faber was also an amateur photographer and is credited with the oldest photograph on record in Denmark. Early life and education Faber was born on 17 October 1810 in Copenhagen, the son of smith Rasmus Hjort Faber (1764-1848) and Ane Margrethe Westphal (c. 1768-1831). He graduated from Westen's Unstitute in 1827. Telegraphy After graduating in technology in 1840, he became an inspector at the Polyteknisk Læreanstalt (College of Advanced Technology) where he carefully followed the development of electromagnetic telegraphy. Together with Hans Christian Ørsted he wrote a report on the possibility of laying telegraph lines in Denmark.
