Frederick IV ( Danish: ''Frederik''; 11 October 1671 – 12 October 1730) was King of Denmark and Norway from 1699 until his death. Frederick was the son of Christian V of Denmark-Norway and his wife Charlotte Amalie of Hesse-Kassel. Early life Frederick was born on 11 October 1671 at Copenhagen Castle as the eldest son of King Christian V and his spouse Charlotte Amalie of Hesse-Kassel. The newborn prince was baptized the same evening with the name Frederick by the royal confessional Hans Leth. His grandfather King Frederick III had died a year and a half before he was born, and as the eldest son of the ruling king he was thus crown prince from birth. At the age of 18, he was given a seat on the Council of State as the heir apparent to the throne. Ulrik Adolf Holstein
Ulrik Adolf Holstein, Greve til Holsteinborg (14 April 1664 – 21 August 1737) was a Danish nobleman and statesman. Life He was born in Schleswig-Holstein. His father, Adam Christopher von Holstein (1631-1690) owned Netzeband and Buchholtz in Mecklenburg; his mother was Cathrine Christine Reventlow of Futterkamp (1647-1704). He was the brother of Christian Frederik von Holstein (1678-1747), Ditlev von Holstein (1669-1721) and Henning Christopher von Holstein (1679-1753). In 1679 he became a page to Crown Prince Frederick and found favour, becoming a noble (''freiherr'') in 1700. He was removed from court in 1703 after attempting to dissuade the King from marrying royal mistress Elisabeth Helene von Vieregg (1679–1704). He became a bailiff in Flensburg, was appointed Privy council (''Geheimrat'') in 1703 and held this office for a number of years. Ulrik Adolf Holstein acquired the Barony of Fuirendal in 1700. Det Kongelige Vajsenhus
(The Royal Orphanage) is a private primary school in Copenhagen in Denmark. The school has around 300 students and 25 teachers. The school has the right to print '' Den Danske Salmebog'' (The Danish Psalmbook). The school was originally a combined orphanage and school, founded by Frederick IV of Denmark in 1727, and the institution was given a number of privileges, such as the right to manage a factory and a book printing shop. From 1740, it had the right to print Bibles and psalmbooks (the profit from which goes towards scholarships for some of the school's students), and during the 18th century, it was a center for Pietism in Denmark. History In 1727 Frederick IV ordered the College of Missions to contribute materials for the opening of an orphanage in Copenhagen, and donated the buildings of the former chivalric academy in Nytorv (where the court is now located) to the project. Personal life Frederik Christian Kaas was the brother of . Their father was Admiral Ulrich Kaas. In 1750 he was appointed as a gentleman at the Royal court. On 7 January 1765, he was married at Constantinsborg to Sophie Elisabeth Charisius who died only four years later. He later married again on 11 September 1771 in Bøstrup Church to Edele Sophie Kaas.
