European Handball Federation
The European Handball Federation (EHF) is the umbrella organisation for European handball. Founded on 17 November 1991, it is made of 50 member federations and two associated federations (England and Scotland), and is headquartered in Vienna, Austria. History EHF was founded on 17 November 1991 in Berlin, Germany, although the first EHF Congress convened on 5 June 1992 and assigned EHF's headquarters to Vienna, Austria from 1 September that year. Handball (also known as team handball, European handball or Olympic handball) is a team sport in which two teams of seven players each (six outcourt players and a goalkeeper) pass a ball using their hands with the aim of throwing it into the goal of the other team. A standard match consists of two periods of 30 minutes, and the team that scores more goals wins. Modern handball is played on a court of , with a goal in the middle of each end. Sverre Andreas Jakobsson
Sverre Andreas Jakobsson (born 8 February 1977) is an Icelandic-Norwegian handball manager and former player. With the Icelandic national handball team, he competed at two Olympics, winning the silver medal at the 2008 Olympics. Playing career Sverre started his career with KA at the age of 16 and helped the team win the Icelandic Cup in 1995 and the Icelandic championship in 1997. He won the national championship again in 2006 with Fram. Coaching career Sverre was hired as player-coach for Akureyri Handboltafélag in 2014. In 2017, the club was relegated from the Úrvalsdeild. and shortly after, KA decided to break off from the cooperation and fielded their own team starting from 2017–2018. Þór continued to run its men's team under the Akureyri name and in 2018, the team finished first in 1. deild karla and was promoted back to the Úrvalsdeild along with KA, which finished second. The Valur men's handball is a Iceland team handball club from Reykjavík, that plays in the Úrvalsdeild karla. History The Valur men's handball team has a long history in Icelandic handball, the club is one of the most successful in the sport in Iceland: no team has won the Icelandic Championship and the Icelandic Cup as many times as the Valur men's team. Fjölnir ( non, Fjǫlnir ) is a legendary king in Norse mythology said to have been the son of Freyr (Frey) and his consort Gerðr (Gertha). The name appears in a variety of forms, including Fiolnir, Fjölner, Fjolner, and Fjolne. He was claimed as the progenitor of the Swedish Yngling dynasty, reigning from Gamla Uppsala.
