Faroe Islands Premier League Football
The Faroe Islands Premier League (also known as ''Betri deildin'' for sponsorship reasons) is the top level of football in the Faroe Islands. It was founded in 1942 as Meistaradeildin, and it is played in current format since 2005, when Premier League replaced 1. deild as the country's top football division. The league is organised by the Faroe Islands Football Association. It is contested by 10 clubs. At the end of every season, two teams are relegated and two promoted from 1. deild. As of February 2024, the Faroe Islands Premier League is ranked 38th out of 55 leagues in the UEFA coefficient. Fróði Benjaminsen
Fróði Benjaminsen (born 14 December 1977) is a Faroese former footballer who played as a defender or midfielder. Benjaminsen previously played for HB Tórshavn, B68 Toftir, Fram Reykjavík, B36 Tórshavn and Skála ÍF. He made a record 96 appearances for the Faroe Islands and captained the national team since 2008. In 2015, he retired from the national team, but continued to play at club level until 2022. On 16 August 2016, Benjaminsen came out of international retirement to play against Hungary in the FIFA World Cup 2018 qualification phase. Club career In 2004, Benjaminsen transferred to Fram Reykjavík of the Icelandic Úrvalsdeild. On 20 December 2004, he signed a contract with B36 Tórshavn to return to his home country. Rógvi Jacobsen (born 5 March 1979) is a former Faroese footballer who played as an attacking midfielder. He is the all-time top scorer of the Faroe Islands national football team alongside Klæmint Olsen. Club career Jacobsen was born in Klaksvík. He played at semi-professional level for Icelandic team KR Reykjavík and Danish side SønderjyskE. In August 2007, he went on a trial to Carlisle United. The trial did not end with a permanent contract so he continued playing with HB. In 2008, he signed a professional contract with Norwegian First Division side IL Hødd. Allan Mørkøre
Allan Mørkøre (born 22 November 1971) is a former Faroese professional football midfielder. Now he is a manager for B71 Sandoy, which plays in the men's second best division. He was manager for AB from 2008 to 2010, he replaced Sigfríður Clementsen, who is currently the manager for HB. In 2010, he became manager of B36 Tórshavn. Mørkøre is now assisting coach for FC Hoyvík, which plays in the second best Faroese football division 1. deild. Allan Mørkøre is the younger brother of fellow Faroese international Kurt Mørkøre. Kurt Mørkøre (born 20 February 1969) is a former Faroese football midfielder or striker who is currently manager of the Norwegian club Averøykameratene. He is the elder brother of fellow Faroese international Allan Mørkøre. He is a baker by profession. John Petersen (born 22 April 1972) is a retired Faroese football striker and the current manager for the Faroe Islands women's national football team. Club career A prolific striker, Petersen has won Faroese league winner medals with GÍ Gøta and B36 Tórshavn.
