Sofia is the capital and largest city of Bulgaria. It is situated in the Sofia Valley at the foot of the Vitosha mountain, in the western part of the country. The city is built west of the Iskar river and has many mineral springs, such as the Sofia Central Mineral Baths. It has a humid continental climate. Known as Serdica in antiquity, Sofia has been an area of human habitation since at least 7000 BC. The recorded history of the city begins with the attestation of the conquest of Serdica by the Roman Republic in 29 BC from the Celtic tribe Serdi. Vasil Aleksandrov Terziev (; born June 9, 1978) is a Bulgarian politician and businessman who co-founded the multi-million dollar software company Telerik. He is the incumbent Mayor of Sofia after winning the elections on November 5, 2023. Early life Terziev was born in Sofia on June 9, 1978. His parents were officers of the Committee for State Security, while his grandfather was a Communist partisan who later became a State Security general in charge of military counterintelligence. Krum
Krum (, ), often referred to as Krum the Fearsome () was the Khan of Bulgaria from sometime between 796 and 803 until his death in 814. During his reign the Bulgarian territory doubled in size, spreading from the middle Danube to the Dnieper and from Odrin to the Tatra Mountains.
