Žiga Samar
Žiga Samar (born 26 January 2001) is a Slovenian professional basketball player for Gran Canaria of the Spanish Liga ACB, on loan from Alba Berlin of the German Basketball Bundesliga (BBL) and the EuroLeague. He is a 1.97 m tall point guard. Professional career Samar made his professional debut for Real Madrid B in the Liga EBA during the 2017–18 season. On 19 August 2019 Samar signed a four-year contract with Spanish team Fuenlabrada. For the 2019–20 season he was loaned to Zamora of the LEB Plata. On 22 July 2022 he signed with Alba Berlin of the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL). The EuroLeague is a European men's professional basketball club competition. The league is widely recognised as the top-tier and the most prestigious men's basketball league in Europe. The league consists of 20 teams, of which 16 are given long-term licences and wild cards, making the league a semi-closed league. The 2022–23 Basketball Bundesliga, known as the easyCredit BBL for sponsorship reasons, was the 57th season of the Basketball Bundesliga (BBL), the top-tier level of professional club basketball in Germany. 2020–21 ACB Season
The 2020–21 ACB season, also known as Liga Endesa for sponsorship reasons, was the 38th season of the top Spanish professional basketball league, since its establishment in 1983. It started on 19 September 2020 with the first round of the regular season and ended on 15 June 2021 with the finals. It was the following season after the 2019–20 season was disrupted in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Consequently, there were not relegations to LEB Oro and the league was expanded to 19 teams. The 2019–20 LEB Plata season was the 20th season of the Spanish basketball third league. It started on 21 September 2019 with the first round of the regular season and was curtailed on 25 May 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Format changes On 8 June 2019, the General Assembly of the Spanish Basketball Federation agreed to expand the promotion playoffs to eight teams, being these from the second to the ninth qualified of the Group A1 of the second stage and the winner of the Group A2. 2022–23 EuroCup Basketball
The 2022–23 EuroCup Basketball season was the 21st season of Euroleague Basketball's secondary level professional club basketball tournament. It is the 15th season since it was renamed from the ULEB Cup to the EuroCup, and the seventh and final season under the title sponsorship name of 7DAYS. The season began on 11 October 2022 and ended 3 May 2023. Gran Canaria defeated Türk Telekom in the final, which was played at the Gran Canaria Arena in Las Palmas, to win their first EuroCup title. As winners, Gran Canaria automatically qualified for the 2023–24 EuroLeague. However, Gran Canaria gave up their spot in the league due to financial reasons. The 2023–24 Turkish Airlines EuroLeague was the 24th season of the modern era of the EuroLeague, and the 14th under the title sponsorship of Turkish Airlines.
