The České středohoří (), also known as Central Bohemian Uplands or Central Bohemian Highlands,e.g. ''The New Encyclopaedia Britannica, Volume 31'', Encyclopaedia Britannica, 1998, p. 371 is a geomorphological region in northern Bohemia of the Czech Republic. Geography The region is about 80 km long, extending from Česká Lípa in the northeast to Louny in the southwest and from Litoměřice in the south to Děčín in the north, and is intersected by the river Elbe. The mountains, which are of volcanic origin, have distinctively sharp solitary peaks. Bořeň
Bořeň (; 539 m) is a phonolite hill two kilometres south of Bílina in northwest Bohemia, Czech Republic. When seen from the northwest side, the hill has the shape of a lying lion. It is a structure similar to the Devils Tower in Wyoming, and is the largest phonolite structure of its kind in Europe. Bořen dominates both the town Bílina and the Czech Central Mountains, with its distinctive silhouette visible from a number of remote locations. Hazmburk
Hazmburk (, literally "Hare Castle") is a solitary hill in the Lower Ohře Table plateau with an elevation of . It is located in the municipality of Klapý in the Ústí nad Labem Region of the Czech Republic. Castle At the top of the mountain there is the ruin of a medieval castle, of which two towers and some wall fragments are still standing. A smaller first castle was already built there in the late 13th century by the Lichtenburg noble family. Later, the site was home to the Zajíc family: in 1335, Zbyněk Zajíc, a powerful aristocrat during the times of Charles IV, purchased it, and made it the center of his estates. In Czech, the word zajíc means hare, so the name of castle and hill is a medieval play on the name of its most prominent owners, who even had hares in their coat of arms.
