Østfold Workers' Sports Association
The Østfold Workers' Sports Association (, often abbreviated to Østfold AIK), founded 23 October 1927, was a sporting association from Østfold in Norway. It was one of many regional associations within the Workers Federation of Sports (AIF). Member clubs of Østfold AIK Within the Østfold AIK there were many clubs: Football In football, Østfold AIK was the leading club within the AIF. Two Østfold teams, Sprint and Sparta, won 9 of the 16 AIF national football championships held between 1924 and 1939. Østfold AIK occasionally selected a combined football team to play international matches, such as 27 August 1937 when they played the Basque Country. Post World War 2 In 1945 Østfold Workers' Sports Association merged with Østfold Distriktslag for Idrett to form Østfold Idrettskrets. Østfold
Østfold () is a county in Eastern Norway, which from 1 January 2020 to 31 December 2023 was part of Viken. Østfold borders Akershus and southwestern Sweden (Västra Götaland County and Värmland), while Buskerud and Vestfold are on the other side of Oslofjord. The county's administrative seat is Sarpsborg. The county controversially became part of the newly established Viken County on 1 January 2020. On 1 January 2024, Østfold was re-established as an independent county, however without the former municipality of Rømskog, which was amalgamated with the Akershus municipality Aurskog-Høland in 2020. Basque Country National Football Team
The Basque Country national football team () represents the Basque Country (greater region), Basque Country in association football, football. It selects players from the Basque Country (autonomous community), Basque Country autonomous community, Navarre and the French Basque Country and is organised by the Basque Football Federation. IL Sparta
IL Sparta is a multi-sport club from Sarpsborg, Norway. The club was founded on 23 November 1928, and today it has sections for football and ice hockey. While the club have had a football department since the foundation, the ice hockey department was founded in 1959. The club has previously also been playing bandy. Sparta is regarded as one of the big clubs of Norwegian ice hockey, having played in the top division uninterrupted since 1980, and having won the Norwegian ice hockey championship three times (1984, 1989 and 2011) as well as four regular-season titles. Sparta's football department enjoyed its best run in the 1950s when the club played nine seasons in the top division and won the Norwegian Cup in 1952, but currently plays in the lower divisions. Østsiden Idrettslag Fredrikstad is a Norwegian sports club, based in the city of Fredrikstad. The men's football team currently plays in the Norwegian second division. The club was formed as Østsiden IL on 14 June 1935, and includes football and handball branches. The name "Østsiden Idrettslag Fredrikstad" was introduced after a merge between Østsiden IL and the handball club Fredrikstad HK on 29 November 2007. Notable former players on Østsiden IL's male football team include Jørn Andersen and Egil Olsen. Torsnes
Torsnes is a former municipality in Østfold county, Norway. It is the site of Torsnes Church (''Torsnes kirke''). History Torsnes was created by a split from Borge, Østfold, Borge on 1 January 1910. At that time Torsnes had a population of 1,538. On 1 January 1964, Gansrød and Ulfeng, with 30 inhabitants, were incorporated into Fredrikstad while the rest of Torsnes, with 1,274 inhabitants, was reunited with Borge. On 1 January 1994, Borge was incorporated into Fredrikstad. Etymology The Old Norse form of the name was ''Þórsnes'', meaning " Thor's headland". The neighbouring island has the name ''Ullerøy'', from the name of the god ''Ullr''. An old farm in the parish, close to the church site, has the name ''Tose'' or ''Thorsø, Norway, Thorsø''. Spydeberg
Spydeberg was a municipality in former Østfold county, Norway, until December 31. 2019. At January 1. 2020 it became a part of the new and greater municipality named Indre Østfold Kommune after the region, together with Askim and Trøgstad and Eidsberg and Hobøl (municipalities). The administrative centre of the Spydeberg municipality was the village of Spydeberg. Spydeberg Kommune (municipality) was divided into the parishes of Spydeberg, Heli, and Hovin and was established as a municipality on 1 January 1838 (see formannskapsdistrikt). The village of Spydeberg has approximately 5,500 inhabitants. It is located southeast of Oslo and is easily reached by both car and bus and train.
