ÍBV (women's Football)
The ÍBV women's football team is the women's football department of the ÍBV-íþróttafélag (English: ÍBV sports club) multi-sport club. It is based in Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland, and currently plays in the Besta deild kvenna, the top-tier women's football league in Iceland. The team plays its home games at the Hásteinsvöllur. ÍBV has won the Icelandic Cup twice, in 2004 and 2017. History ÍBV women's team first played in 1993, in the Icelandic second-tier 1. deild kvenna (then named 2. deild kvenna) but folded after five games. The team was back the next season and in 1996 it was promoted to Úrvalsdeild kvenna. The team folded after the 2004 season but was resurrected in 2007 when it participated in the Icelandic cup. In 2008 they participated again in 1. deild kvenna and in 2010 they won the league and got promoted back to Úrvalsdeild kvenna. Hásteinsvöllur
Hásteinsvöllur (, or more precisely 'Hásteinn Stadium') is a multi-use stadium in Vestmannaeyjar, Iceland. It is located in the town of Vestmannaeyjar on the island of Heimaey. It is used mostly for football matches, and is the home ground of Íþróttabandalag Vestmannaeyja Íþróttabandalag Vestmannaeyja (, ), commonly known as ÍBV, is an Icelandic multi-sports district association from Vestmannaeyjar off the south coast of Iceland. They are currently ranked as the 13th best women's national team in the world by FIFA as of March 2025. Jonathan Ricardo Glenn (born 27 August 1987) is a Trinidad and Tobago football coach and former player. He played college football for Saint Leo University in the United States before going on a decade long professional career. Michelle Barr
Michelle Barr (born 19 October 1978) is a Scottish football coach and former player who is the head coach of Old Dominion Monarchs college soccer team. She formerly played in the Scottish Women's Premier League for both Celtic and Rangers. She has previously played professionally in the Icelandic Úrvalsdeild and has been capped for the Scotland women's national team on 87 occasions. Elísabet Gunnarsdóttir (born 2 October 1976) is an Icelandic football coach and former player. She managed Swedish Damallsvenskan club Kristianstads DFF. Elísabet was the head coach of the Icelandic Úrvalsdeild kvenna team Valur for five seasons from 2003 to 2008, during which her team won four league titles and one cup title. From 2009 to 2023, Elísabet was the manager of Kristianstads DFF in the Swedish Damallsvenskan. Heimir Hallgrímsson
Heimir Hallgrímsson (born 10 June 1967) is an Icelandic professional football manager and former player who is the current manager of the Republic of Ireland men's national team. Early life Heimir was born on 10 June 1967, and grew up in a family of six children on the island of Heimaey. His father ran a business repairing fishing nets. Heimir originally studied computer science at Reykjavik University with the aim of becoming a software engineer, but later qualified in dentistry, working as a dentist in Heimaey. Sigurlás Þorleifsson
Sigurlás Þorleifsson ( – 24 April 2018) was an Icelandic footballer. He was part of the Iceland national football team between 1979 and 1982. He played 10 matches, scoring 2 goals. With Knattspyrnufélagið Víkingur he was topscorer of the 1979 Úrvalsdeild with twelve goals. Later with his club Íþróttabandalag Vestmannaeyja he was again topscorer at the 1981 Úrvalsdeild (12 goals) and 1982 Úrvalsdeild (10 goals). With Íþróttabandalag Vestmannaeyja he also competed in the 1980–81 European Cup, scoring 1 goal against Baník Ostrava. Death Sigurlás collapsed while on a hike with friends on Heimaklettur in Heimaey on 24 April 2018. Icelandic Women's Super Cup
The Icelandic Women's Super Cup (Icelandic: ''Meistarakeppni kvenna''), also known as the Meistarakeppni KSÍ kvenna, is an annual women's football match between the reigning champions of the Besta deild kvenna league and the Icelandic Cup holders, or if the same team holds both titles between the title-holder and the team placed second in the league, or occasionally the second-placed team in the Icelandic Cup. The match generally takes place at the start of the Iceland domestic season in May. The competition was uninterrupted from its founding in 1992 to 1998, and from 2003 (when the holders of the 2002 titles competed) until 2020. Title-holders from 1999, 2000, 2001, and 2021 did not play for this cup. The most successful team is Breiðablik with a total of ten wins.
