L'École nationale supérieure des arts visuels de La Cambre (ENSAV), more known as La Cambre, is a renowned visual arts school founded by Henry van de Velde in Brussels in 1926. It was founded as the ''Institut supérieur des Arts décoratifs'' (''Hoger Instituut voor Decoratieve Kunsten''), and became known as "La Cambre" after the Abbey of la Cambre/Ter Kameren in which premises it was established. In 1980, La Cambre was divided into two separate institutions, the ''École nationale supérieure des Arts visuels'' (ENSAV), and the ''Institut supérieur d'Architecture de la Communauté française de Belgique'' (ISACF). Both institutions belong to the French Community of Belgium. Henry Van De Velde
Henry Clemens van de Velde (; 3 April 1863 – 15 October 1957) was a Belgian painter, architect, interior designer, and art theorist. Together with Victor Horta and Paul Hankar, he is considered one of the founders of Art Nouveau in Belgium.'''' La Cambre Abbey (, ) or Ter Kameren Abbey () is a former Cistercian abbey in the City of Brussels, Belgium. It is located in the Maelbeek valley between the Bois de la Cambre/Ter Kamerenbos and the Ixelles Ponds. The abbey church is a Catholic parish of the Archdiocese of Mechelen–Brussels and home to a community of Norbertine canons, while other parts of the monastery house the headquarters of the Belgian National Geographic Institute (NGI) and La Cambre, a prestigious visual arts school. The abbey was founded around 1196 and reached its apogee in the 13th century. It was suppressed during the French Revolution and abolished in 1796. Pierre Alechinsky
Pierre Alechinsky (; born 19 October 1927) is a Belgian artist. He has lived and worked in France since 1951. His work is related to tachisme, abstract expressionism, and lyrical abstraction. Life Alechinsky was born in Schaerbeek, Belgium, to a Russian Jewish father and a Belgian Walloon mother. Marine Serre (born December 13, 1991) is a French fashion designer and sustainability advocate. She won the 2017 LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers. Early life Serre was born in Brive-la-Gaillarde near Corrèze, France. Berthe Dubail
Berthe Dubail (1911-1984) born in Leval-Trahégnies near Binche was a Belgian painter. Biography Berthe Dubail studied at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Mons, and at the workshop of La Cambre in Brussels dedicated to monumental painting, she further worked in Paris, at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in the free workshops. Olivier Strebelle
Olivier Strebelle (20 January 1927 – 29 July 2017) was a Belgian sculptor. Strebelle was a prolific artist for more than 65 years, and his works are found in private collections and public settings around the world. His monumental (usually bronze) sculptures adorn many public places in Brussels as well as in Germany, Israel, Italy, Russia, Singapore, Switzerland, and the United States. Anthony Vaccarello (born 18 January 1982) is a Belgian-Italian fashion designer. He is the current creative director of Yves Saint Laurent. He has also designed his own eponymous line. Early life and education Vaccarello was born on 18 January 1982 in Brussels, Belgium. He is the only child of Italian parents; his father worked as a cartongesso maker, and his mother was an office-worker.
