¡Viva El Amor!
''¡Viva El Amor!'' (Spanish for ''Long Live Love'') is the seventh studio album by the rock band the Pretenders, released in 1999. The band's lineup for the album is the same as that credited on 1994's '' Last of the Independents'': Chrissie Hynde (vocals, guitar), Martin Chambers (drums), Andy Hobson (bass) and Adam Seymour (guitar). This time, however, the credited line-up actually plays on most of the album, although Hobson is replaced on bass by session musicians on a few cuts. The album, featuring a cover photograph of Hynde taken by friend Linda McCartney, saw moderate success in the United States and the United Kingdom. Its two lead singles were "Popstar" and "Human", the latter a Divinyls cover. The Class Mix of "Human" was used as the theme music to the short-lived American TV series ''Cupid'' as well as featuring in the soundtrack to the Brenda Blethyn film '' Saving Grace''. The Pretenders
The Pretenders are a British rock band formed in March 1978. The original band consisted of founder and main songwriter Chrissie Hynde (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), James Honeyman-Scott (lead guitar, backing vocals, keyboards), Pete Farndon (bass guitar, backing vocals) and Martin Chambers (drums, backing vocals, percussion). Following the deaths of Honeyman-Scott in 1982 and Farndon in 1983, the band experienced numerous personnel changes; American-born Hynde has been the band's only continuous member. Mark McEntee
Mark McEntee ( ; born 16 July 1955) is an Australian musician, best known as the lead guitarist and co-founder of the Australian rock band, Divinyls. Early life McEntee was born in Perth, Western Australia, and went to Christ Church Grammar School. Mother Lode During the early-1970s (exact year needed) Mark (Guitar & Vocals) teamed up with Howard Shawcross (Bass Guitar & Vocals), Peter Nelson (Drums) and formed the band "Mother Lode". The band released a single titled 'Music of Mother Lode featuring the tracks: "Smother Me" as the "A" side and "Flying" on the "B" side. ''Saving Grace'' is a 2000 British comedy film, directed by Nigel Cole, starring Brenda Blethyn and Craig Ferguson. The screenplay was written by Ferguson and Mark Crowdy. Brenda Blethyn
Brenda Blethyn ( Bottle; born 20 February 1946) is an English actress. Known for her character work and versatility, she is the recipient of various accolades, including a Golden Globe, a BAFTA, and a Cannes Film Festival Award, as well as nominations for two Academy Awards and two Primetime Emmys. She was appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to drama in 2003. Divinyls
Divinyls () were an Australian rock band that were formed in Sydney in 1980. The band primarily consisted of vocalist Chrissy Amphlett and guitarist Mark McEntee. Amphlett garnered widespread attention for performing on stage in a school uniform and fishnet stockings, and she often used an illuminated neon tube as a prop for displaying aggression towards both band members and the audience. Originally a five-piece, the band underwent numerous line-up changes, with Amphlett and McEntee remaining as core members, before its dissolution in 1996. "Human on the Inside" is a song recorded by Australian rock duo Divinyls, released in August 1996 as the fourth single from their fifth studio album ''Underworld''. A minor hit in Australia in 1996, the song became better known after it was covered by the Pretenders in 1999 under the title "Human". In this version, the song became a 1999 chart hit in the UK, New Zealand and the US. Linda Louise, Lady McCartney ( Eastman; September 24, 1941 – April 17, 1998) was an American photographer, musician, cookbook author, and activist. Adam Seymour (musician)
Adam Seymour is an English guitarist and songwriter who began his recording career with the Katydids, a south London quintet that recorded two albums before disbanding. He met Katydids' singer Susie Hug in 1987 when both were playing on sessions for Big Bam Boo. Developing an instant rapport the duo formed a band recruiting other members Dan James (guitar), Dave Hunter (bass) and Shane Young (drummer). Seymour and Hug wrote the material for the band. After Reprise Records dropped the Katydids, Seymour joined The Pretenders for four albums: '' Last of the Independents'', the live album '' The Isle of View'', '' Viva el Amor'' and ''Loose Screw''. Martin Chambers
Martin Dale Chambers (born 4 September 1951) is an English musician, best known as a founding member and drummer of the rock band the Pretenders. In addition to playing the drums with the group, Chambers sings backing vocals (lead vocals on the song "Fast or Slow (The Law's the Law)", the B-side of the singles "2000 Miles" and "Show Me", which he also wrote) and plays percussion. He was part of the original band line-up, which also included Chrissie Hynde (vocals/guitar), James Honeyman-Scott (guitar/vocals/ keyboards) and Pete Farndon (bass guitar/vocals). Hynde and Chambers are the only two surviving original members, and he has served two separate tenures with the group.
