The .40 S&W (10.2×22mm) is a Rim (firearms), rimless pistol Cartridge (firearms), cartridge developed jointly by American firearms manufacturers Smith & Wesson and U.S. Repeating Arms Company, Winchester in 1990. The .40 S&W was developed as a law enforcement cartridge designed to duplicate performance of the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) reduced-velocity 10mm Auto cartridge which could be retrofitted into medium-frame (9 mm size) semi-automatic handguns. It uses bullets ranging in weight from .''Hornady Handbook of Cartridge Reloading'', Fourth Edition (1991), pp. 593–595 History In the aftermath of the 1986 FBI Miami shootout, in which two FBI special agents were killed and five wounded, the FBI started the process of testing 9×19mm Parabellum and .45 ACP ammunition in preparation to replace its standard-issue revolver with a semi-automatic pistol. 40 Super
The .40 Super (10.2x25mm) is a powerful automatic pistol cartridge developed through the collaboration of Fernando Coelho and Tom Burczynski and introduced by Triton Cartridge in 1996. It delivers ballistics comparable to the .41 Magnum revolver cartridge, yet functions in standard 1911s and other full-size pistols. A 5” 1911 chambered in the cartridge is capable of penetrating 46” of Clear Ballistics ge The cartridge never attained mainstream success, Triton Cartridge eventually suspended operations, and supplies and support for the round are now limited. History and design In 1994 Triton Cartridge, an ammunition company based in upstate NY, released a cartridge called the .45 Super. Essentially, the .45 Super is based on a .451 Detonics case trimmed to .45 ACP length. Pioneered by writers Dean Grennell and the late Tom Ferguson, the .45 Super raised the performance level for .45 ACP-chambered autos beyond that of the .45 ACP+P and even the 10mm Auto. 40 (Sunnyboys Album)
''40'' (also known as Sunnyboys 40) is a greatest hits/re-issue album by the Australian power pop group, Sunnyboys. ''40'' is a re-issue of the four songs on the group's debut self-titled extended play and adding four new studio recordings of songs from the Jeremy Oxley archive. The album was released in November 2019 and peaked at number 84 on the ARIA Charts. Band member Jeremy Oxley "You can't keep a good band down. These new and revitalised songs take it back to the reason behind the band in the first instance. The 40 years in between is nicely depicted in the change in voice while the energy and craftsmanship is still there in the sound, albeit a little fuller and rounder. I guess, it's just like us too really." The album was supported by a national tour which took place across Australia in February and March 2020. Songs The album is an album of two sides. The first four tracks (or side A on the vinyl) comprises the four songs released on the band's self-titled 7" extend ...

40 (song)
"40", also known as "40 (How Long)", is a song by Irish rock music, rock band U2. It is the tenth and final track on their 1983 album, ''War (U2 album), War''. The song is noted for its live performances; guitarist the Edge and bassist Adam Clayton trade instruments during performances of it, and as it was commonly played to end their concerts, the band would leave the stage one-by-one as the audience continued to sing the refrain "How long to sing this song?". The lyrics are a modification of the Bible's Psalm 40. The song was released as a commercial single only in Germany, simply to promote U2's appearance at the Loreley Festival in 1983. The single was released on a 7-inch gramophone record with a B-side of the album version of "Two Hearts Beat as One". Since its live debut on 26 February 1983, in Dundee during the War Tour, "40" has been a staple of U2's live concerts, having been performed almost 400 times. Recording The song was completed within the last few hours of the ...

Top 40
In the music industry, the Top 40 is a list of the 40 currently most popular songs in a particular genre. It is the best-selling or most frequently broadcast popular music. Record charts have traditionally consisted of a total of 40 songs. "Top 40" or " contemporary hit radio" is also a radio format. History According to producer Richard Fatherley, Todd Storz was the inventor of the format, at his radio station KOWH in Omaha, Nebraska. Storz invented the format in the early 1950s, using the number of times a record was played on jukeboxes to compose a weekly list for broadcast. The format was commercially successful, and Storz and his father Robert, under the name of the Storz Broadcasting Company, subsequently acquired other stations to use the new Top 40 format. In 1989, Todd Storz was inducted into the Nebraska Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame. The term "Top 40", describing a radio format, appeared in 1960. The Top 40, whether surveyed by a radio station or a p ...

40 (number)
40 (forty) is the natural number following 39 and preceding 41. Though the word is related to ''four'' (4), the spelling ''forty'' replaced ''fourty'' during the 17th century and is now the standard form. Mathematics 40 is an abundant number. Swiss mathematician Leonhard Euler noted 40 prime numbers generated by the quadratic polynomial n^ + n + 41, with values n = 0,1,2,...,39. These forty prime numbers are the same prime numbers that are generated using the polynomial n^ - n + 41 with values of n from 1 through 40, and are also known in this context as ''Euler's "lucky" numbers''. Forty is the only integer whose English name has its letters in alphabetical order. In religion The number 40 is found in many traditions without any universal explanation for its use. In Jewish, Christian, Islamic, and other Middle Eastern traditions it is taken to represent a large, approximate number, similar to " umpteen".
