In polar aspect, the Wiechel projection can be expressed as so: :\beginx &= R \left( \sin \lambda \cos \phi - \left( 1 - \sin \phi \right) \cos \lambda \right), \\ y &= -R \left( \cos \lambda \cos \phi + \left( 1 - \sin \phi \right) \sin \lambda \right). \end
