Tourism in Europe represents an important economic activity. In 2014, Europe received 563 million tourists. Revenue reached 383 billion euros in 2014.

* In 15 years, there has been a 156.6% increase in tourism in Europe. * In 15 years, revenues have increased by 151.3%. * In 2011, there was a 6% increase in tourism in Europe, probably due to the Arab Spring. Notoriety of European monuments around the world

The results presented below result from a survey carried out by TNS Sofres between March 15 and April 2, 1996 on behalf of SNTE (Société nouvelle d'exploitation de la Tour Eiffel, the operator of the Eiffel Tower from January 1, 1980 to December 31, 2005), among samples of residents in each of the 6 countries. Occupations, regions, and categories of agglomerations are represented in each sample in a proportion equal to that of their presence in the total population.
