Most of Sharon Township has been annexed by the cities of Westerville, in the northeast of the township, Worthington, in the center of the township, and

Today, the township is composed of many small "islands," all of which border the city of Columbus. The township is governed by a three-member board of trustees, who are elected in November of odd-numbered years to a four-year term beginning on the following January 1.
