Clinical significance
Zeta-sarcoglycan is reduced in mouse models of
muscular dystrophy and SGCZ is found as a component of the vascular smooth muscle sarcoglycan complex. Hence SGCZ may be important in the pathogenesis of muscular dystrophy.
